Thnks guys, the babies name is Shepard. I'm hoping mass effect didn't corelate with an influx of the name. Not very common i don't think.

Thanks DB, actually my 2 and a half year old picked out the name. We asked her and she said something like "Shepard... It's soooo cute." We were at our wits ends trying to come up with a name so we rolled with it.

You mentioned that, that would drive me insane the months leading up to the birth. One thing I've learned about naming a kid, -it's really not that important. Lots of great names are off limits because of people we know with that name, or a celebrity or something. The thing I didn't realize is that while you are trying to think of a name you feel suits the unborn child, when it doesn't matter. The child themselves make the name, not the other way around. Does that make sense? Like who cares if you grew up with a bully named Luke, the baby is the new Luke.

Well to be clear the name was on a short list for a few months and she wasn't gonna settle for any name that a close relative or friend has/used for their kid. Also her family did the Junior thing with the parents and kids so that was off limits too.
