Whats the most difficult game on Retro Uprising to complete in one shot, if you die you start over and no cheats.

My vote is for Total Recall for the NES. I can not beat the second to last boss. It's the only game I've given up on because of difficulty.

that game is impossible to beat without cheats

so far to my knowledge I am the only one to get past level 1 without cheating.

Final Fantasy 2.
If you don't have a strategy guide to help you through it, you'll just get creamed every time.
With a strategy guide, it's one of the greatest games of all-time imo. That's why it's not listed in the "My Video Game Hall Of Fame" thread.

Not trying to call you a liar but I highly doubt it's that hard without a strat guide. I've yet to play an RPG where I needed a guide. Usually it just takes some extra effort.

Not to mention that there are spots in the game where it's pretty much impossible to avoid getting hit. It could be possible, but I've never been able to do it.

Gradius III because its soooooo long. And if you die once you're pretty much done.

Radiant Silvergun not because it's "hard" per se but the point is to get a super high score, and doing THAT while dodging everything you don't kill is hard.

Silver Surfer is crazy. Only one hit point and you can't touch anything. I was sad when I used my one rental to get this game. Almost as sad as when I rented taboo.

I beat Silver Surfer on a 2-day rental as a kid.

Total Recall, Cheetahmen II, and Impossible Mission all can't be defeated without hacking because of programming errors.

Anyone else remember any others?

This was not a hard game for m,in fact it was very easy.And I didnt use a guide,or cheats,or helps/

Yes I did have my party killed off a number of times.Yes I had to backtrack sometimes.The trick is to SAVE your game,and not just use the same slot.Use many slots,so that you can backtrack,if you mess up.If you do mess up,the came can be very hard.

Another trick to beatin the game is to do the standard leveling up thing.You really need to be around 55 to 70th level to beat the game.That means dont run away from random encounters.Also stock up on many tent,cabins,restorative potions,and most especially the ethers,and elixirs to restore magic points.

You can do that by searching every square inch of the game for items.And by purchasing said items at the cheapest stores you can find.

Also character that you must develop big time are Cecil,Rosa,Palom,Polom,Kain,Rydia. Best party to use is Cecil,Rosa(or Polom as a substitute white mage if Rosa isnt available),Kain,Palom(black mage)Rydia. You should have a white mage in party at all times,if possible,and either a black mage,and or rydia the summoner.Summons like Bahamut,and spells like meteor,and ultima and Nuke,are necessary to beat the game.

Certain other items like Yangs spoon,the masanume blade,and excalibur are almost neccessary,yangs spoon does like 100,000 points of damage if thrown at the enemy,and excalibur does even more if thrown at the enemy.

Also to progress in the game,your going to have to find lots of secret doors and passageways,which means more searching every square inch of the game.Also you have to talk to everyone in the game,and then talk to everyone in the game again,as they will tell you different info after major events happen.

As far as big boss battle end of the game battle strategy.And especially against the ultimate evil Zeromoius,who has like 1 million hit points and whose attacks reduce the party to like 1 HP each.you need to throw masanume,and excalibur,yangs spoon at the boss that should reduce the bosses hit points by 25%.Then you hit it with rydia's Bahamut summon over and over,and make sure Rosa uses Nuke over and over,and make sure that your black mage uses meteor,and Ultima over and over.make sure everyone is hasted.Once Edge the Ninja has thrown every high damage weapon he can get his hands on,replace him with a different party member.Cycle out party members,and try to time the cycling of party members between zeromius super attacks that reduce everyone down to 1 hp.Try to keep everybody healed up.Its a extremely hard end of game boss battle,but after having your party wiped out a few times,you should eventually prevail and beat the the end of the game boss.

Now Final Fantasy 3 is much more difficult,but even kefka is beatable,without using a strategy guide.I remember playing final fantasy 3 and beating it,and then after that the guide came out and said "this guide is your only hope to beat Kefka and the espers.I chuckled and laughed at that and said "well I guess I didnt beat Final Fantasy 3 then"

I found both both FF 2 and 3 on SNES super easy. I beat both with no trouble at all.

In FF2 just make sure you have 99 cabins with you at all times, and use one at every point. That game was easy but harder than FF3 at least. Surviving the terrible translation was harder than playing the game itself though.

FF3 is the opposite. Much better script, but easier game. Still carry 99 cabins in that game. It's so easy to abuse Terra's esper power to annihilate everything. If I get bored with Terra then Sabin's combos take her place. Actually its more or less easy to turn everyone into a god in that game. I laughed all the way while climbing Kefka's trash heap.

my favorite strategy in Final Fantasy 3 was using Terra's Espers,and then using The little girls painter to paint a picture of a monster and have that monster attack the monster.Also anothe tactic is to use the girl to paint a picture of Go Go so that you have 2 Go Go's Then use each Go Go to copy previous attacks,like use 1 Go Go,to copy terra's most powerful Esper attack,and then use the other painted Go Go to mimic Ultima,Doing this will yield 2 Powerful Esper attacks,and 2 powerful Ultima spells each per each round.

To beat Kefka easy,just paint Kefka round 1.Then 1 ultima and 1 Esper attack. Then Paint Go Go. Have Go Go do a mimic of esper or ultima attack.So 3 powerful attacks round 2.Round 3 the painted copy of Kefka hits Kefka with its own attack,then there is 4 powerful attacks. Round 4.Kefka faces 4 more powerful attacks.By rounds 4 to 6,Kefka is dead

To beat it is easy, all you do is select retire in the first city you enter. But there are several endings. To get the best ending is extremely difficult.

I didn't mean just retire asap, I meant complete the goals and get an ending. I'll admit I used to play this game all the time but even so I think it's easy when compared to games like Battletoads or Ghouls and Ghosts.

Yeah that game is just designed to be unfair though. I love it and all but I think it's a poor way to add difficulty to an rpg. It has nothing to do with the user skill, it's just unfair enemies.
