Well he's dead and gone so he doesn't need anything from anyone now. My point is there's no point in being so mean about it. Obviously it will destroy his family and obviously he knew that. There are always other options. People need to swallow their pride if they are feeling near the edge, and open up about their problems. I'm not suggesting that the guy didn't have very serious problems, and for that I do feel bad for him. That act however is selfishness personified. He essentially told his 2 young kids that they were not important enough to him for him to be there for them. This will stick with the poor kids for the rest of their lives, and there is a good chance that their entire outlook on life will be permanently destroyed.

People always say stuff like this and I don't get it. How can you know what they were thinking? Maybe he thought he was doing them a favor in the long run. It might not be a matter of pride or being selfish it could be a matter of feeling like you're worthless and your loved ones will be better off without you bringing them down with you. Maybe he felt like he did something that they would hate him for and we don't know about it yet, and maybe never will. It's impossible to know their motivations without a note explaining it.

Or he thought they would be better without him. If he was depressed all the time he was probably also angry and lashing out. I'm not saying he was right but in the mind of a depressed person things don't seem like they can ever get better. It's a sickness.

We can all agree on this point. I just hope they can eventually forgive him and move on. Staying mad and/or hating him for it will only damage them more. Trying to understand his pain and accepting it is much healthier.

Let's look at Zelda Williams and what happened to Robin. It's been almost two years for her and she's gone on strong after the death of her father. It'll take some time but i'm sure Mirra's children will understand.

I remember lots of people whose passing I read about, but don't bother to mention it because, like you said KT, I imagine it's before a lot of members' time and not many would even care.

ONE such person I never mentioned was Grace Lee Whitney who played Janice Rand on the original Star Trek TV series; she was the blond with the 'chessboard' hairdo.

She passed away almost one year ago.

Incidentally she was one of the many original series cast in the independent production 'Of Gods and Men' - now that I mention it I think we should give that one a Cytube screening sometime soon.

STOS, STV, STDS9 fans, even if you can't make it for the screening it's worth checking out on your own time; it's definitely one of the best Star Trek shows I've watched in my life and it's no stretch to say even Gene Roddenberry would love it.
