What's the better game? Super Metroid or Symphony of the Night?

Well, what do you guys think? I'm torn because I played the living shit out of both, and loved every minute of it.

Believe it or not Combo, I have never made a poll correctly, I've probably made 10-15 of them, and every single time, I mess something up.

It's cool. I agree that both games are amazing. Just for future reference, just think about all the options available.

SotN, on merit of being a bigger and more ambitious game with secrets that are more grand than just "a missile upgrade you didn't know about".

It's not the most fair of contests though. I like to think there could have been a good 2D metroid on the N64 if Nintendo would have dabbled a little less in 3D.

Chose Super Metroid. For whatever reason I've never been able to get into the Castlevania games.

The monkey wrench is that there is something to be said for Super Metroids relative minimalism. Super Metroid would not have been as good a game had it had the content of SOTN.

Maybe it comes down to the atmosphere. Dracula's stone castle ironically feels more alive while Zebes is more cold and lonely despite being full of critters.

I've beaten both and I preferred SotN.
Much smoother, more atmospheric, and I actually knew where I was going.

The upside to Super Metroid was the lack of loading tunnels.

That being said, they're both outstanding titles that should be played.

Super Metroid by a long shot. And DB, you need to play Super Metroid. Quite simply the greatest game ever made, for so many reasons.

Symphony of the Night killed the franchise for me. Yeah, it's probably a controversial opinion. But all you do is run and jump around from one power/cut scene to the next. And every game that followed was just a lousy attempt to imitate that style of gameplay on less powerful platforms. After Dawn of Souls on the DS I just checked out of the series, since it was going nowhere. Castlevania the Adventure Rebirth was pretty boss though.

So, Super Metroid. It's just better.

Both franchises seem to be shelved though.
