Re: 2014 Retro Uprising Gaming Champ
What are people using for settings in Ironman's Stewart? My truck seems abysmally slow yet watching youtube videos it just zings around hills on the first race.
Here are my settings:
p1 pedal 1 analog: joy 2 x axis
p1 pedal 1 analag dec/inc button 1 button 2
dial analog: joy 2 y axis
dial analog dec/inc/joy left joy right

It's damn slow really all the way through. I use my keyboard. It can slow you down badly bumping in to other cars as they never seem to be affected badly by it.
The cool thing in the arcades were when you continue or right from the start you just add extra coins and upgrade fully.

Re: 2014 Retro Uprising Gaming Champ
Without watching, I'm guessing they are using turbo the entire time. My local arcade has one of these and the only way you can sniff one of the track records is to dump a bunch of coins in and fully upgrade your vehicle and add a bunch of turbos so that you never run out. If you want to learn how to get the best score on a single coin I suggest watching mine or Ballas's video on here or find a playback on MARP.
This game's scoring system is tough to figure out. From my experience it seems you are better off finishing a few races with the fastest possible time instead of trying to get a long ways into the game. You get more points finishing three races fast than you do finishing 5 races slow. It's kind of frustrating that you have no clue what your score is until the game is over. I've had runs where I thought I'd get a bunch of points just to see my final score suck.

Re: 2014 Retro Uprising Gaming Champ
I think the only reason the videos are faster is because they either inserted more coins or they earned upgrades by collecting money bags on previous rounds.
You can try this but I tried it and didn't notice any affect.
In game you can press Tab then select "Analog Controls". Set "P1 Pedal Speed" to 255 and "P1 Pedal Sensitivity" to 255.

Re: 2014 Retro Uprising Gaming Champ
I think I just finished 6 tracks and had under 1mil.... On the last race the guys were too fast so I was just trying to collect money bags without finishing a lap and my score was very low so that doesn't seem like the way to go.

What is speed run about?
How do you move that car?... I cant push it more than 5 steps
Is it possible to play this game with a joy?
|
Yeah. I play with the joystick. Kong's suggestions helped a bit but after 5 races i only had 605k..yet after 4 i have 575? game is whack.
I believe what i have listed above is what worked for me. I recently cleaned out my arcadeox directories as i was having issues with both firefox and IE loading games. So my settings are reset.

+100. It's heartbreaking when you get a lousy 700k thinking you had a million-odd in the bag...

You're dead right Ballas, it says this on the splash screen. I can't help thinking it's weighted more towards the finish time than number of races, as DB Cooper says if you zip through the first 3 easy tracks it seems to rack up more points than struggling through to track 6...
A different question... does anyone reckon there's any advantage to the order in which you buy the goodies? Wheels or top speed? I remember playing this on the ZX Spectrum and you could just load up on all the good stuff at the start by sacrificing a couple of credits

I finished 6 or 7 races the other day and didn't have a great score. I also think that on the race that you loose you must try and get the best position possible. If I recall correctly I did 5 races on my score of 1,198,000.

I don't buy "goodies" but spend all my money on turbos. My theory is that when you power up, so do the computer trucks. If you never power up, the computer doesn't either.
My tips:
1. Never upgrade, use all your money on turbos.
2. Figure out on each track where using a turbo does the most good. Using a turbo to bounce off the back of another truck or into a wall is bad.
3. Especially on the first couple of tracks, don't just win. Even if in first, use your turbos to get the best time possible.

I'll give this a whirl, then!
I did (when I thought the score was mebbe related to how much cash you had in the bank) used to try to get through as many tracks as possible without even using nitros, but when you reach track 5 you haven't a chance of keeping up with that grey b******

Re: 2014 Retro Uprising Gaming Champ
The only current option when starting Final Soldier is a two minute game. It appears that some of the posted scores for this title are for five minute games. I may be missing something here, or perhaps missing past forum posts on this game. Can anyone clarify?
Thanks

You scored 10800 and are in 7th on the scoreboard. You didnt complete the game so its not on the 2014 gamer of the year leaderboard, as we are tracking it as a speed run

So, speedrun means that your score counts only if u finish it?
|
All the other games are for score so you dont need to complete them. Arkista's Ring is the only one you need to complete to be on the 2014 leaderboard. If you dont complete it, your time wont be recorded on the 2014 leaderboard.
