Video Game Collection Sells on Ebay for 1.2 Million Dollars
This video game collection just sold on ebay for 1.2 million dollars. Freakin' ridiculous. I have never seen anything like it. Pretty much every game is brand new and sealed. A bunch of old rare games and the like.

That's what I get for not being around. I would also like to know the stories, specifically of the buyer. I just can't imagine waking up one day, getting on ebay, and then saying to myself "I am prepared to spend 1.2 million dollars on this." No matter how much money I had. But I won't lie, I am extremely jealous.

People who buy games can do whatever they want with them. They can play them or keep them in the box, it's completely up to them. You spend money on something, it becomes your property and you can do as you please with it, within the law.
It's not up to anyone else to decide "Hey, no fair! It's not right that people collect games!"

I'd say his collecting days are over. I'm just pissed it most likely went to someone who won't appreciate/deserve it, Jack Osborn, Paris Hilton, Justin Beiber... any random celebrity that just thought it would "neat" to have.
Ideally it would be in a museum or archive of some sort.

Yes, it would be nice if the collection was in a museum, but that's not where it went.
And who's to say the celebrity who bought this won't appreciate it?

I am still curious if it will get paid. I have seen crazy auctions on eBay before, but the payment never happens. It would be much smarter for the seller to make a deal off of eBay because they will take a huge percentage out of the total sale.
That is why I still don't believe it sold until the buyer actually pays.

I have a 'small' retro game collection, and although they were {mostly} used when I got them and I play them myself, I loved displaying them on shelves encircling my room.
{which I took down recently}
Someone once said it was '.. like walking into Block buster or something ..', which I took as a great compliment.
{ would have been worse if I had them all on the shelves instead of 5 deep per shelf}
REGARDING the million dollar + collection, what can you say about something like that? -- that would be a truly one - of - a - kind vintage games collection to display their living room, or .. ?

If you are willing to spend a million dollars are something, chances are you really, really want it. And, in this case wanting something and being able to afford it means you deserve it.
The fact that they are a celebrity does not negate the fact that could have been collectors in the first place, or have a desire to own a collection of video games for a reason other than "it might be cool to have."
