I think I'm going to my in-laws to watch it, the firstrow sports link from the previous page has been working for months now.

I'm not watching it, but I'm rooting for Brock Lesnar. He's one hell of a fighter.

Re: Mma
Wow that was a disappointment. Brock must've gave up to avoid getting hurt since he planned on retiring either way. What a shame. Sorry for the spoiler but I'm sure it will be news soon anyways.

I'm not. Pro Wrestling has gotten so bad, worse than I ever thought possible. I think it would be a damn shame if he went back to what it has become. It's an embarrassment.

What I don't understand is if he is leaving ufc because of his injuries, why go to wwe ? I thought pro wrestling was harder on him, is he going to have one of those hogan contracts where he only appears on tv ?

It's hard on the body but it's a controlled thing as opposed to UFC. If he is going to WWE it's because he's wussing out on real fighting in favor of a safe paycheck.

Re: Mma
He isnt wussing out, he is just realising that he frigging stinks at it. He got into the sport wayyyyy to late to develope a game, you can't go into a fight with a guy like the Reem and expect to be able to treat it like a straight up wrestling match. He was fun to watch, but good riddence none the less.

I agree he went in too late but you really can't say he stinks at it if he beat people like Mir.

That had nothing to do with skill, that was all size and strength, same with Couture.

Re: Mma
Nah Mir isn't exactly a small weak dude. You have to give credit where credit is due. Brock got embarrassed in their first fight and he made up for it in the second. Keeping Mir on the ground was not just about size, Brock knew how to use his weight and center of gravity to keep a very accomplished submission guy(black belt in Jui Jitsu and Kenpo is nothing to sneeze at) locked down. The Couture thing wasn't much to brag about though, he was passed his prime anyways.
Besides that you seem to think Brock didn't deserve to be in their at all. He is a NCAA heavyweight champion with a record of 106–5. You don't get that by being unskilled.

My point is that's ALL he has, he has nothing else, ziltch, nada, nine. This isn't the NCAA this is MMA, Mixed Martial Arts, you are not in the same league with anyone unless you cover the Mixed part.

Re: Mma
@Fungusman- Spit it out what's your beef with what I said?
@Steven- Of course he's not on par with people trained in multiple disciplines BUT he is a very accomplished fighter in his own right. All I'm saying is he deserves credit. He's not some gimmick like Kimbo.

No beef, just seems like your painting pro wrestling with the easy street brush. HE will probably be on easy street (the hogan treatment) , but pro wrestling is brutal on those it devours.

Re: Mma
Yeah but compared to a fight sport like UFC where it's not preplanned they can control the damage they take. Of course there's accidents but that's the point, people only get seriously hurt if they mess up in wrestling. In UFC you can get seriously hurt at anytime and unexpectedly.
Btw I have a very negative outlook on pro wrestling now but I used to be a fan. I'm just disgusted with the direction it's going in.

You do realize that Brock is on record saying he could'nt handle wrestling, and that he "...don't even remember the 2 years I wrestled..". It's not just the bumps that they take, it's everything about the business.

Re: Mma
I don't know man, they all have health problems because everything just wears out. It accumulates for them. Plus all the drugs. Think WWE is trying to clean everything up a bit, but there are still a lot of other leagues out there. Guys who will take a baseball bat to the face for $20. Wrestling is brutal, it's like porn being a loop hole for prostitution. In wrestling, since it's "fake" they can do whatever they want. I've seen loads of bad stuff go down man. And even the "normal" guys are all hunched over and can barely walk at age 50.

Re: Mma
I know pro wrestling is extremely taxing in it's own right. My point is just that you can get seriously injured in a legit fight sport under normal circumstances, it's random. For that reason retiring from UFC and moving to WWE would be a way to control his risk.

Re: Mma
I've been a huge MMA fan since I first rented UFC 1 on VHS tape at my local Blockbuster. A bunch of us used to get together for every fight on PPV and I'd video tape them. And then one day our local cable provider just stopped offering it. It wasn't until years later that I learned about how it got black balled and had to move to Japan and then got bought out by the current ownership. I still love modern day MMA but the excitement is nothing like it was in the days when there were no rules, no weight classes and everyone fought a different style.
It looks like this thread has been quite the last few months but maybe we can revive it a bit. I've read all 500 and some odd posts and I'm jealous that you guys have figured out how to watch this stuff live and streamed. I just watched UFC 142 as a rental through Netflix as that's the best I can do as I can't afford to pay for all of these shows (expecially the mediocre ones) but love to watch them.
I was going to splurge and pay for this weekends event when it was set to be Dos Santos vs Overreem but I'm not forking out $50 to watch Mir get knocked out in 30 seconds. If this online streaming stuff still works, it would be much appreciated if someone could post links.
