Re: Pro Wrestling
I'm just being honest. They recently changed their format from trying to be edgy to being family friendly. They lost lots of fans and now they're desperately trying to recapture what made them popular, without offending stupid fragile people who live under rocks and don't know how to handle adult situations and bad words.

I might start watching it again if they went back to family friendly.

Re: Pro Wrestling
Well start watching because that's where it's headed. It's not all the way there yet but I hear it's pretty bad now from my friends who used to love it. They say that it's dumbed down and the even the moves are much tamer. What's the point of even watching that when there's stuff like UFC?

Those two videos were almost identical. Second one (chronologically) was staged for sure. First one probably too.

It's wrestling, it's all fake. The only time you know it's real is when they mess up.

It is true they seem to have a issue with getting a storyline that is new. The difference was that this time when the ring broke they made it look smoother then the last time.
There are good and bad points people can make on wrestling and I am one of them, but overall watching wrestling is kinda like watching a Hollywood remake of a movie that was done 20 years ago. Its not as good as the original but they have that new audience that does not know any better.
They need the attitude era back that was some good times there when the stories were original and they kept ya wondering where it was going next. This PG stuff is not cutting it. Its not as exciting as it used to be. The 80's wrestling was more exciting then now. Today's wrestling is too predictable and just comes off cheesy.

Re: Pro Wrestling
I totally agree with you Count. I've never been a big wrestling fan but I did watch it during the two popular eras and this new stuff just does not come close, not even a little bit. If they wanna recapture that popularity they need go back to what worked, hitting people over the head with chairs and over the top violent storylines. I do not wanna watch a soap opera with some predictable wrestling moves mixed in. Save the drama for your mama this is supposed to be about people getting hurt!
I miss when Brock was in WWE-

That is true that is what worked well. They had a episode of Smackdown where Randy Orton beat Cody Rhodes so bad that he was badly bloody there was a pool of blood on the floor, but because it was on Smackdown and per-recorded they edited it all out so that it was not seen on t.v. The whole PG thing that they are doing is all because of Linda McMahon running for some political office and people were saying that because she is involved in wrestling (which they said was too violent) that she should not be elected or even have the nomination for it.
So Vince stepped in and made the WWE a kids show.
It has just not worked and the number of viewers is going down so that is why they are bringing back The Rock and Kevin Nash. Its their way of trying to do something good that will just backfire because they were there in the attitude era and without that format no one can save the WWE from the downfall that they are in.
Right now I am bored with it because its the same 3 people being champions all the time and the people that can wrestle they just put them off to the side and go with the safe people. Its a bad move.

Re: Pro Wrestling
Brock Lesnar was a wrestler who was in the WWE for a short amount of time. He got released and then bashed the company and then he became a UFC fighter after that.

Re: Pro Wrestling
@Count- Yeah it's pretty obvious that she and Vince changed the format from PG-13 to PG in order for her to have a political career. Btw isn't it amusing that all the ridiculous stuff they used to do was only rated pg-13 or TV-14? So stupid.
Btw I don't think she'll have a chance at any higher office anyways because of her association with WWE. She is a success story but she also has a history with a company that was caught knowingly juicing it's employees. There's also a memo that she wrote warning of possible criminal charges which was already brought up in her recent campaign. There's no proof but it seems like that really screwed her chances.
It's kinda amazing that when it was more violent and crude we had presidential candidates appearing on there(part of the Smackdown your vote campaign) but now you wouldn't see any of them even going near it despite it's tamer rating. People love their sex and violence.
@Tails- If you honestly don't know who Brock is then you're not really a wrestling fan and you've been living under a rock. He was one of the most dynamic athletes they ever had and he faced most of the top tier people multiple times. He wasn't just a typical juice head beefcake like all the rest, he has real talent.
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXak2CDtJ18"]Brock Lesnar - WWE's Skilled Monster - YouTube[/ame]
Then for the real talent part-
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tohcRc7fkhI"]Brock Lesnar destroy Frank Mir - YouTube[/ame]
He lost the first match by a submission but then in the rematch he destroyed Mir who is very respected for his skills, two black belts.

True there, but that is why she didn't win the vote on it. There is talk she is going to run again and that is why I feel that they have the current storyline where Vince has been removed from running the company and now Triple H is now the COO of WWE.
I think that it is funny that Presidential candidates can go on WWE but not someone who is running for anything else. Its amazing that Jesse Ventura got to be a Governor at all with all the stuff that they say about how WWE is so bad.

She already confirmed she's running again.
I think the only reason Obama, Clinton and McCain appeared on WWE was because of it's popularity. If it wasn't for that they wouldn't touch it either.

I agree there totally.
Well, because she is running again is why we have the current storyline because if Vince is not involved neither is she.
