Wow, I don't find Jeff Dunham funny in the least bit, same with Will Farell, Dane Cook and the majority of contemporary comedians.

About the Blue Collar Comedy guys, the only one I think is funny is Ron White.

For the most part it seems comedy has degenerated to phallus jokes, grown men acting like children, really unfunny racism towards people of Middle Eastern decent, and crap jokes.

Nothing funny there.

Once again, you've managed to cut through the BS and made a powerful statement - this is what I like about you, DM - and I totally agree.
Now, I can understand when someone is looking for currently relevant material to use in their routine, but it does end up being racist often times, doesn't it?

And it doesn't even have to be full - on derogatory comments about a peoples' way of life; often times it's just general observations on common habits and spoken accents - but that's enough - and the problem lies in the presentation.

ONE EXCEPTION I found was in a guy named Russel Peters, an Indo - Canadian comic who pokes fun at many different cultural stereotypes, including his own Indian heritage - but in a way that the groups he's talking about actually agree with.
What I mean is that when he's talking about the Chinese, Chinese audience members are laughing, when he talks about 'African - Americans', they in the audience laugh as well, and so on.

The point is that the way he presents these stereotypical cultural differences is from the point of view of a neutral observer and is completely free of racism; he's not putting people down to try to make his jokes funny.
Since no one is the 'butt' of his jokes, he's internationally popular - especially in India.

That character really is racist. And it doesn't offend me, not much does, but I can't believe that Dunham is considered wholesome family entertainment with a character like that.

Are you being serious? - if this were true, then the city of Surrey, British Columbia should be a battleground because the majority of people living there are of Middle Eastern descent.
Problems in that community are mainly centered around gangs fighting to control the drug trade; a few years back it got so bad that The Province reported gang members 'Dropping like flies'.
The point is that their violence is drug and gang related {same as with other cultures} and has nothing to do with 'Jihad'.

Personally I think the 'Aryan Nations' {a group which follows Nazi philosophy of 'pure race'} - compound out there in Surrey fosters a much more war - like mentality in their community than anyone of Middle Eastern descent.

Like you say, it's hard to get sarcasm into text; I've been making these mistakes a lot lately because of this.

Frankly I don't blame people for speaking sarcastically about things - because this World is going so well, and everything is in such perfect balance - what else can we do but to poke fun at its ridiculous seriousness?

I neglected to comment on this guy Jeff Dunham's work, so here goes:

I think he's being either encouraged or simply allowed to perpetuate the 'terrorist' stereotype with his 'dead terrorist' puppet.
This plays on that collective memory of the general population I've mentioned so many times before; the idea is that by allowing this guy to perpetuate the nonsense of 'Middle Eastern terrorists' being 'anywhere and everywhere' {as created by the Corporate - controlled mainstream media = the 'news'} they can keep playing on our subconscious and therefore we will go along with their programs such as 'giving up our Liberties for Freedom'

My point is that this person's presentation serves only to perpetuate the myths which are keeping us from paying attention to the real issues at hand.
What I find funny about Mr. Dunham's puppet is that he's wearing a turban, which would likely make him a Sikh, whereas the 'terrorists' are supposed to be Muslims, are they not?
Maybe the intention is to generate hatred towards ALL Middle Eastern peoples, regardless of their religious orientation?

I am not offended by it, but I don't find it funny. I don't find racism funny ever, so why would this guy's puppet be any different. Oh, and ventriloquism isn't all that entertaining when you can see the guy's lips move. It isn't much, but it bugs me when I can see it happen, it makes it hard to actually focus on the act because of a lack of skill on the part of the performer.

I was introduced to Jeff Dunham by someone of middle eastern descent and while i do find him funny, i have seen better ventriloquists in my time, namely Edgar Bergen with Charlie McCarthy and Mortimer Snerd,Wayland Flowers with Madame and Shari Lewis with Lamb Chop and friends.
