Settle an argument for me

The details don't matter. I ended up going back and forth with a coworker about who's a better singer, Bob Dylan or Axel Rose. Imo it's not even a contest, Axel sucks. He disagrees, obviously. I asked other people and it was pretty evenly split so I told him I was gonna ask you guys for a bigger sample. Let's hear it.

This is a weird question. I think Axl Rose is garbage and I like Bob Dylan, but I wouldn't call Bob Dylan a good singer. I think they are both OK singers.

I guess I'd go with Dylan, but I might be bias because I actually like his music.

I think I would have to go with Dylan. Not because he is a great singer. I've got to agree with TMT that neither Axel or Dylan (in my opinion) are great singers. They both have very 'distinct' voices, which is a good thing in an industry where everybody mostly sounds the same. I think Dylan, however is a better musician than Axel, and a good song writer.

I also feel that he has had a much larger (and overall less negative) impact on music in general than Axel. I like some of Guns n Roses music, but I think it's less about Axel's voice and more because the entire band had a great sound together. I personally would never buy an Axel Rose cd, because I don't like his voice enough to listen to him outside of GnR.

I agree with TMT. Neither are good singers, but Dylan is the far better musician.

I don't like either of them at all.

Axel Rose sings through his nose and the only person I find more annoying is the singer from AC/DC {either one, take your pick the new one sounds the same as the dead one} = total garbage!
Neither Guns N' Roses nor AC/DC ever made a decent song to date, in my opinion.

Bob Dylan sounds like he's either drunk or ... an alien with no sense of rhythm or ... or he makes up the lyrics as he goes along - I can't tell.

Don't worry guys neither of us thinks those two are top notch vocal talents. That's the point of the comparison really. I find it funny but I also cannot understand how people can vote axel. It just doesn't seem like a fair fight.

As I was typing this Tenser voted for Axel. I probably could've guessed that one.

Do you like Bob Dylan at all Tenser? I'm just curious.

Btw I need help finding a Dylan song on Youtube. All I'm finding is covers and live versions that don't sound the same. This clip from Madmen is the only one to feature the song the way I remember it. If someone is able to find it for me I'd be very thankful.

I would probably go with Axel as a better singer, but that is by default. I never thought of Dylan as a singer, it seems that whenever he "sings", it is more that he talks with a melody.

Axel on the meanwhile actually attempts to hit notes and his range isn't awful. Therefore, I would label him as a better singer.

I won't even so as far as saying that Dylan is a great musician, because I don't think he is that either. IMO, Bob Dylan is a brillant poet that decided to pick up a guitar.

He writes great songs, just cant turn them into good sounding music.

Here's what I have to say on this topic:
Bob Dylan was good as a songwriter, but I don't particularly like his voice. He sounds more like he is reading a poem than singing in most cases.

Axl Rose is actually more of a singer, and he has a good vocal range. Have you ever listened to the song "Paradise City" all the way through, it sounds like a whole different person is singing.
