Re: Welcome to the next dimension...
Well as a fan can't you understand why changing well known and well loved scenes is bad? It'd be like changing a novel to fit with the movie version, it's just wrong. Lucas can do whatever he likes with his own works but I don't have to agree or like it. I think he's just out for more money.

Re: Welcome to the next dimension...
It worked for him, though. The remastered movies are still selling. So Lucas probably wins this debate either way.

Re: Welcome to the next dimension...
Of course it works for him, he's making tons of money either way. To me it's an integrity issue. He says that the older movies will not matter in like 50 years and that people will only know or care about his remastered versions. I think that's total bullshit considering how rabid the fans are and all the info on the net about it. He's delusional and he doesn't give a shit about his fans, hard to deny that.

Re: Welcome to the next dimension...
I'm one of those fans that in the long run care about the results, anyway, so of course I can't deny it to be honest. The originals, however, will still matter to me, since they set the tone for the frenzy that is Star Wars.

So how do you feel about the new direction of kidsy star wars instead of stuff for older people?

Re: Welcome to the next dimension...
Well, when the Clone Wars movie came out I was interested to see where they would go. The book series is more directed to adults than the latest movie, I'll admit. Times are calling for Star Wars to be introduced to a new generation of kids.

Re: Welcome to the next dimension...
Even the new SW MMORPG is designed in the clone wars kidsy style. I understand wanting to get kids into it but they didn't need to dumb it down when the first movies came out. Kids loved those for what they were.

Re: Welcome to the next dimension...
I think SW is only being hurt by the new kid friendly art style. What happens when this generation grows up and wants movies/TV shows about SW? Do you think Lucas will move them onto normal, adult SW so easily or will he continue to water down the entire series?

Re: Welcome to the next dimension...
I wasn't fully impressed with the last three movies anyways so I don't care if it recovers. Btw I heard that Lucas wants to make the change to TV series instead of movies, this might be his master plan.

Maybe, but it'll take time to conquer the Stargate fans.

Re: Welcome to the next dimension...
If SW is going to go TV, it'll find Stargate pretty well entrenched. In a ratings war, the higher the viewership is, the more popular a show. So, SW would need to put a product together that Stargate can't, and push it out entirely.

Re: Welcome to the next dimension...
I think SW has an automatic audience and name recognition, it'll do fine. Stargate is mostly in reruns at this point besides Universe right? That show is good but it's more like a combination of Battlestar Galactica ang SG than a true SG show. Is it even doing good in the ratings? They had a marathon a couple nights ago and I watched it for like 6 hours but I don't know if many other people did.

Re: Welcome to the next dimension...
Just wrote a lengthy post about S.W and G.L. and my computer crashed and I lost it. - I think it was a sign!
In a nutshell all G.L is good for these days is milking the cash cow. He's bloody brilliant at it mind. Although it's a shame he's no longer interested in making half decent films.
Still a fan albeit far less so than when I was a kid. My eldest son is 6 on Sunday and yet to watch a Star Wars film. I'm sure when he's does he'll enjoy all the bits that make me cringe!
Kids hooked on Star Wars + Parents with money = One big Fat Happy George Lucas!
BTW Hello Fenrir 1887

Re: Welcome to the next dimension...
Speaking of changing things, I guess Lucasfilm has officially announced (they have talked about it for a long time) they will be rereleasing the films in 3D once and for all. I know this is another cash grab, but I love 3D so much I think that would be cool. Can you imagine Greedo shooting first in 3D or Jar Jar Binks stumbling over himself and,"Mesaa Meesaing" in 3D? How about Wicket the Ewok beating on the stormtrooper helmet in 3D. Sweet!

Nice!
But I got that trumped - What about the 'brilliantly remastered' Jabba's Palace 'entertainment' scene in 3D?
Awesome

Oh my God yes! Also, I was thinking it would be so sweet to see Nien Nunb laugh in 3D. Can you imagine it?

OMG, I can barely contain myself! Just point me in the direction of the nearest 3D theater and I will camp out on it's doorstep for the next two years.
