Story:

Resident Evil 2 begins on September 29, 1998, in the small mountain town of
Racoon City. The town has become overrun by a zombie infestation caused by
Umbrella Coperation's "T-Virus" and almost everyone has fallen victim to the
infestation.

Resident Evil 2 follows two main protagonists, rookie police officer Leon Scott
Kennedy and College Student Claire Redfield, sister of Chris Redfield from the
first title. In town they discover the devistation Umbrella created and have to fight
their way out of the infested city.

Resident Evil 2 continues similar gameplay mechanics from Resident Evil 1, you
control either Leon or Claire (depending on which disk is inserted) from at third
person perspective as you shoot down zombies that stand in your way. Also,
players will encounter various puzzles to solve as they search their way out of this
nightmare.

For first-timers, the fixed camera angles and the unique targeting system will be a
little hard to get used to, but once you have it down, it'll become second nature.

Another important essential is ammo conservation, in Resident Evil 2, ammo can
be a bit scarse making players choose either to kill the zombie or run past it.

Each of the two protagonists play differently; Leon is stronger and can take more
damage, while Claire can carry more equipment. Because the two different
characters have different play styles, it allows for multiple playthroughs based on
which character you play as first.

Graphics:

Although Resident Evil 2's graphics can be very pixilated when zoomed in,
Capcom used a unique apporach with the fixed camera angles, keeping models
and backgrounds at a fixed angle allowed for more detailed environments.

Sound:

Like all Resident Evil titles, the songs aren't meant to stand alone. In combat
against zombies, it really adds to the tension the series has but on it's own a song
doesn't sound as nail-bitting as it was.

Overall:

Resident Evil 2 is a solid entry in the franchise, never getting to easy or difficult with
plenty of scares to go around.

I think this Resident Evil was too easy, but still great. I didn't like how all the guns lost their effectiveness at long range in this game though.

4 and 5 are far superior.

3 sucked. 4 sucked hard. 5 isn't even playable.

3 does have the worst puzzles in the series by far, but it makes it up with Nemesis.

4 and 5 are awesome titles, I never get tired of playing them,
what do you have about them Tenser?

Beginning with 3 they kept leaning more and more towards action and less of a survival horror.

Nemesis is easily the scariest villain in gaming, he keeps your hair on end fot the entire game.

You're insane. The water treatment puzzle was the first one to actually make you use your brain.

Tenser- Obviously they cannot make the same game over and over again. Resident Evil 3 actually makes you conserve your ammo as opposed to the other games. Resident Evil 4 and 5 as you probably have it in perspective already, are not survival games, they are action. I think they are decent shoot 'em ups and enjoy them, and I'm surprised you feel for them in such a dramatic way.

Also, I didn't much care for 0 or CV. CV is were the action becomes big, giving you sniper rifles, machine guns, and dual pistols.

The first two really don't make you conserve. You can easily kill everything without trouble as long as you don't take a crazy amount of damage.

Tenser- Well all right, you got me, but even those games try to bring in new gimmicks, Capcom probably wanted to draw a larger fan base in.

Guitar Hero yes but Call of Duty at least changes up the guns, locations and adds new features. Yes it's very similar from game to game but there's only so many changes you can make to a military FPS before it loses the realism that it's fans enjoy.

I wasn't disagreeing with you, I was giving you a reason for why Tenser would feel so strongly about the changes.

That being said I do think it's a shame they went away from what made them successful in the first place. If they lose what made it notable it just becomes another boring action game or whatever.

I think it's pretty obvious, you seem to ignore any and all features/improvements that make them different though. It's not like Guitar Hero where it's slightly different NPCs and some different music.

This game involves a little too much backtracking if you ask me. Ammo is also far too plenty.
