Yokai Watch is a Level-5 monster collection game split across two versions like Pokemon. Earlier this year it got an anime adaptation on TV and its popularity exploded.

No you wouldn't. The game is specifically geared toward 10 year-olds.
You'll get your wish though as the game and the anime have been confirmed to be making their way over seas.

Wiiu might actually get a boost from Bayo 2, everyone is giving it awesome reviews, even a perfect 10 from Gamespot. That is 1 of the 7 or 8 they have ever given.

Sony
Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) today announced that September 2014 marked the biggest month ever for PlayStation Store revenue in the Americas, led by the launch of Destiny from Activision and Bungie. Destiny broke PlayStation Network sales records across several categories, taking the top spot for pre-orders, day one sales, and week one sales. One month after the game’s launch, engagement among PlayStation fans continues to soar, as Destiny is the most-played title on PS4 with 125 million hours of gameplay. According to Activision internal estimates, the PS4 system is the #1 platform worldwide for Destiny based on units sold through as of October 4, 2014.“ September 2014 was a record-breaking month for PlayStation’s digital business, thanks in large part to the success of Destiny,” said Eric Lempel, vice president of Sony Network Entertainment International.
“Last month’s PlayStation Store revenue increased nearly 90 percent compared with Sept. 2013. Working closely with Activision and Bungie, we wanted to make the launch of Destiny a special experience for PlayStation fans. We’re thrilled to see this high engagement from PS4 and PS3 owners.”
In addition, the PS4 sold more copies of every EA Sports game released last month than any other system and was the largest console for Destiny.
Microsoft
“We believe this will be one of our biggest holiday seasons ever. We’re offering great Xbox One bundles aligned with the most anticipated game launches of the year, including ‘Assassin’s Creed Unity,’ ‘Sunset Overdrive’ and ‘Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare,’ and incredible deals for fans. Combined with blockbusters like ‘Halo: The Master Chief Collection,’ ‘Grand Theft Auto 5,’ ‘Destiny’ and ‘Forza Horizon 2,’ we are committed to making Xbox One a great place to play this holiday.”
Nintendo
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS launched on Oct. 3 in the U.S., and even with only two days of data included in NPD’s September report, the game still managed to finish as the No. 4 best-selling software SKU for the month with more than 705,000 total units sold. Of that total, more than 135,000 units were sold digitally through the Nintendo eShop. The game’s biggest impact however may be on hardware sales. More than 140,000 units of the Nintendo 3DS family of systems were sold in September, an increase of 55 percent over sales in August.
Sales of Wii U hardware also saw double-digit increases in September, increasing by nearly 50 percent over sales in August. These gains were driven in particular by two software titles: Hyrule Warriors and Mario Kart 8. Hyrule Warriors launched on Sept. 26 and has already sold more than 190,000 combined units in the U.S. alone. Mario Kart 8 sold nearly 60,000 combined units in its fifth month on the market, bringing its lifetime total in the U.S. to nearly 1.2 million total units.
A great lineup of games for Wii U begins on Oct. 26 with Bayonetta 2, the Wii U exclusive that currently holds a 91 score on Metacritic. That continues with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U on Nov. 21 and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker on Dec. 5. Also launching on Nov. 21 is amiibo, Nintendo’s foray into the toys-to-life category. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be the first game to launch with amiibo integration. Other games that will support amiibo include Mario Kart 8, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Mario Party 10 and Yoshi’s Woolly World, with more to come. More details about compatibility and functionality of amiibo may be found at amiibo by Nintendo (http://amiibo.com).
The Nintendo 3DS library will soon be bolstered by two of the most anticipated games of 2014: Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire (Nov. 21).

COD maybe, but even if it could run stuff like that the only third party games Nintendo consoles are likely to keep seeing are trashy games from Activision and Ubisoft.
Well, and some weird indie titles.

Right, I was banking on the failure of the bone.
There was absolutely no chance the Bone would fail, once they reversed course from their original vision. Sure, it's absolutely been disappointing when compared to the 360, but too many people are loyal to the Xbox brand to jump ship(and those who did went to PS4 and PC, not Wii U). I'm sure a lot of people just wanted to keep their gamertags and achievements.

Depends on what you mean by fail. If you mean falling short of their goals and being forced to change their strategy numerous times, cutting out the Kinect after lying about it being mandatory and slashing the price nearly 40 percent, and still being distantly behind where they thought they would be. Then they most certainly have failed.

Ehh, there's still time for the Bone to recover from that, and it kind of has already. When I say fail, I mean a console that can't stay viable for the whole generation(like the TG-16 or the Dreamcast).

http://www.retrouprising.com/img/2015_01/5217.jpg
TG-16 was released to compete with NES and lasted until the release of PlayStation. It was the second most popular 4th gen system in Japan beating the Genesis. It out sold both WiiU and Xbone (not for much longer) making it the 16th most popular console world wide ever and around 8th place in Japan.
It was never popular in NA but it did last the entire generation and did decent in Japan.
Kugyince
01-31-2015, 03:03 AM
That's because the TG16 was best known for it's excellent shmup arcade ports. Shmups were never as popular in NA as they were in Japan. A lot of the ports were of shmup coin-ops that never were localized to NA so they lacked any brand recognition in NA anyways.

I think that all the big budget, good looking titles from here on out will be considerably expensive to develop on ever evolving tech that has a higher and higher graphical ceiling.
I wager Activision, 2k, EA, Capcom, Ubisoft, and even Bethesda will only fund and publish games if they work off mainstream ideas and include shifty cash grabbing methods.
If it comes down to gaming casually with a group of people, the xbox 360 and kinnect are only getting cheaper.
Why bother with a current gen console?

I already have a WiiU and enjoy it immensely. I'll be getting a PS4 solely for Kingdom Hearts 3 when (if?) it comes out. By then, hopefully the PS4 will have a price drop. I barely play games on my PS3 anymore. I think the only game I've played in the last half a year on the PS3 was Kingdom Hearts 2.5. The only other use I get out of it is Netflix. I feel bad getting a system just for one game but there are other games that do interest me so it'll probably be worth it.

To me Nintendo has always seemed to be 1 step behind tech wise since the N64 and it will keep hurting them unless they change their plan.
-The N64 they stuck with carts eventhough it was clear the industry was moving towards CD's at the time. I can give them somewhat of a pass on this since the CD add-ons and CD based games at the time were not successful but they knew the move was coming, they even tried to make their own which lead to the creation of their own rival in the PS1.
-GC: They went with their own media and not standard CD/DVD like the xbox and PS2 did. The lack of online also hurt them. They had an adapter that worked with 1 game I think.
-Wii: They had online but not as fluid as the PS3 and 360 and not nearly as many games supported it. Motion controls were interesting but there was a lack of third party support and it could not run the same games as their counterparts and thus ports were few leaving it behind after a huge start.
-WiiU: Now the system is around as powerful as the 360 and ps3 and got some ports, but with the release of the xbone and ps4 it will likely get left behind again once those systems get more games and pick up some steam.
Now I'm not saying the Nintendo systems sucked, they have their benefits and good games. It's just to me they have been behind the tech curve or are unwilling to push it with their consoles.
First off, on a completely different note, I feel I need to mention, because it happened. Love this mouse I got for christmas. Hate the back and forth (for webpages) buttons on the side I accidentally hit. Especially after writing out something that took me 20 minutes.....
I did weigh in on this for fun, because I felt like deciphering why a lot of these decisions were made, but I'm not doing that again. It was for fun discussion. Not worthy of rewriting all that shit (I can say that here now right?).
Anyways. I think most of that comes down to their aggressive standpoint on affordability they've always had. The WiiU had that tarnished completely by an expensive failed gimmick that brought costs way up, causing for obvious dips in actual hardware. Even so the only worthwhile bundle you could get can run you $350. Look up the history, all other consoles from Nintendo were sold in the $150 to $250 range. Kind of destroys their practice as is. Upping the hardware to 2012 levels would have brought costs to consumers up to more like $500 or $600 bucks I'd guess. That's not a cost I think we'll ever see Nintendo ask to sell for.
Of course (just for fun here), without the gamepad. I think they still would have run the cost of their hardware (to the consumer) to $250 or $300. Which is pretty much the cost without the gamepad, maybe upping the hardware specs a bit. That would not be a competitive console anyways. I can see why they took the gamble on the gimmick. Worked for the Wii. Tablets were beginning to be a huge market item at the time as far as you know, actual tablets go. It just didn't transfer to a good forced console add on unfortunately. There is good ideas to be had for it, that are yet mostly untouched.
On a positive note for it. The specs aren't that bad. WiiU is still getting supplied with 1080p, 60 fps games (albeit mostly first party).
