Re: How To Play Games Using A Controller (Using Xpadder)
I recently bought a usb adapter to use my playstation 2 joystick controller with this site. I tested it after installing the xpadder and it worked fine until I entered game mode for the mortal kombat full version. After that none of the controls worked the way they should...
Has this got anything to do with the fact my computer is a Japanese NEC LaVie (LC800/M)?
It`s a Japanese OS but I installed Vista ultimate to convert it to an English OS I could use... but in running the game app does it bugger things up?
I checked the tutorial that Oasis posted ... but after a couple of hours playing with it, I`m ready to give up! Any ideas that can help here?

Re: How To Play Games Using A Controller (Using Xpadder)
Is there a way to set up up+left, up+right, down+left, & down+right? I tried setting it up in ArcadeOX itself so I could then map it to Xpadder but it thinks I'm only pushing up or left not up & left to move diagonally. Is there a way to set Xpadder up to do that or will I not be able to move diagonally using my controller?
Re: How To Play Games Using A Controller (Using Xpadder)
You do not need to set up up+left etc.
BTW. In Coin-Op games left/Up, left/left, right/down, right/right etc. are refering to games that had two joysticks like Smash T.V. The left and right joysticks.
Re: How To Play Games Using A Controller (Using Xpadder)
Hey Guys,
Having one HELL of a time with using a controller!!! I installed x padder and then tried uninstalling it when I gave my USB controller to a buddy... now I have a new controller adapter (using PS2 and an elecom adapter) but now when I try to use xpadder nothing happens... I get a message that the program is running from "another location" in my temp files but my controller doesn t work and there is no icon on the bottom of my screen any more... I have tried dumping and reloading xpadder but NOTHING is working and it is really driving me nuts.... any help anyone?
Re: How To Play Games Using A Controller (Using Xpadder)
Xpader is only needed to use a controller with the java or flash games. In ArcadeOX mode can detect the controller.
Playstation controllers don't play well with Windows.
Make sure Windows is detecting your controller. Open Control Panel. Then open Game Controller or Devices or something similar. If you don't see that then type "joy.cpl" in a run prompt to open it.
If Windows is recognizing your controller but it is still not working in our games then post a link to the game you are trying to get to work and post what play mode you are trying.
Re: How To Play Games Using A Controller (Using Xpadder)
OK guys... it's like this...
After taking a very long break from Retro Uprising, I have had the insane itch to play again, but the problem of not being able to use my controller STILL remains NO MATTER WHAT I do!
The problem started when I gave my controller to a friend who likes gaming. I had installed everything that I needed to use my PS 2 controller and everything worked completely fine. I uninstalled everything (the Elecom USB controller adapter, arcade OX, and xpadder... or so I thought... xpadder just kept coming back even after I thought I trashed it) and handed the controller and USB adapter to my friend.
After a few months, I started thinking that I wanted to play again. I bought the same Elecom USB control pad adapter and downloaded everything I thought I needed and NO JOY... I also used a USB control pad, and bought a Sanwa adapter, I test the controller when in xpadder, looks fine, but is unresponsive when I try to play any games.
I would set up my controller functions with xpadder and they would respond in the test, but when I try to play ANY game with it online, its like the controls don't respond at all, even though they did in the test... I have tried numerous approaches and read the other threads on in, including checking whether the arcade OX plug in is enabled through Firefox and NOTHING
I really want to play again, and this thing has gotten REALLY frustrating ... any ideas?? Not all that user savy I must admit, but seriously? This is just annoying. Would love to rock Mortal Kombat again!
Re: How To Play Games Using A Controller (Using Xpadder)
Not sure about PS2 but PS3 controllers are tricky to get to work on a PC.
This thread is pretty old. You don't need Xpadder for games running in ArcadeOX. You only need it if you want to use a regular controller in Java and Flash games.
After it loads by default insert coin should be SPACE and start should be ENTER. All other buttons should be automatically set to your controller. You can reconfigure all buttons by pressing TAB to open the menu.
If that is not working then close the game and go to control panel.
In Vista and Win7 open Devices and Printers. In XP open Game Controllers.
You should find your controller there. If you do not then Windows is not recognizing your controller.
If you see your controller there right click it and select properties and make sure all of the buttons are working.
I believe it comes with the Wireless adapter only, so you'd need a Xbox 360 controller for it to work. The only negative is, that I can't get sound to work for it for some reason. I don't mind that though, because I barely have the music on while playing the game anyway. I usually just listen to music on my iPod. Anyway, I like it and give it a try if nothing else works and you have an Xbox 360 controller.
Also, I think sound might work if you use headphones. I've never tried it because frankly I've never cared enough, but it's worth a shot if you get it.
Re: How To Play Games Using A Controller (Using Xpadder)
My joystick works fine in other games in Windows, but does not get recognized by ArcadeOX, nor does it work when I use a keyboard emulator like joytokey or XPadder. I have no idea what else to do as playing with keyboard is not really an option for me.
