re: Steam, its games and our players.
I would like to see multiplayer for those types of games. It could work, even in a Simcity type of sense. You know how in Sim City you get the neighboring cities thing? They could have an advanced version of that and offer all sorts of stuff like that for any game that's like tropico or sim city really.

If it works for games like Civ there's no reason it can't work for a game like Tropico or Simcity.

Civ=Civilization? Either way agreed. Even so, I have Tropico 1 & 2, while you have 3 & 4 lol.
Still kind of interested to see what the Pirate themed Tropico is like.

I just met a really annoying guy on TF2. I was playing great for a few games in a row when all the sudden this guy joined and started trash talking everyone, but mainly me. His problem was my choice of the mini sentry. I was defending the flag with it, normally that would be stupid but I'm good with it. Also I was only doing it as back up for another engineer with a full sentry. When D-bag joined the other engineer left so to him it looked like I was doing this solo the whole time. Regardless of what it looked like I was killing spies, scouts, pyros, soldiers by myself with just a mini sentry. It took four enemies all at once to kill me.
Next game he's like "I'm gonna switch teams so I can dominate dudebro". He killed me like twice, not once was it an up and up fight either. I caught him running and gunned him down, lol. After a couple of games of me doing better than him I called him out on it. He kept talking trash and wouldn't even play on my team. I told him to cry more and I left. I thought it was funny.

Nah it's all good you weren't rude, like I said I had an amusing time making a try hard loser look bad. Btw when I told him to ask the other team if I sucked he was like "of course they'll say no they suck too". One of THOSE people who thinks they're gods gift. He also had 7k + kills on his minigun. Me thinks he needs a life.

re: Steam, its games and our players.
Having a bit of an odd issue with Final Doom. I already asked Bearhawk about it, but he didn't know. Must just be me. Anyways. The game is great, except it runs in a DOS emulator for whatever reason. Why they run it off a DOS emulator when the game was available on steam, I don't know. Frankly I'm a bit unimpressed with that fact since a better version of the game was available outside of DOS with better quality music.
Anyways, to the issue. The game never really exits apparently. In steams mind, it is running from the time I boot it up. Even when I quit Final Doom the normal way. I know this because whenever I try to boot up Final Doom itself again, it tells me Final Doom is running already. If I try to close steam, it tells me I need to close Final Doom first. I check my task manager all I want to see if the DOS emulator or Final Doom are running, but no. It's something in steam. Everytime I want to boot up the game again, I need to end the process of Steam through the Task Manager (Ctrl+alt+del menu).
Not to mention, it counted up hours already twice where I wasn't using the game for an extended time. so it says I already have like 17 hours played. Really, go check my profile. That part doesn't bother me so much, but I love looking at statistics like that, so I know that is false. I maybe have 4-6 hours logged into the game in reality.
This issue has only happened with Final Doom so far. Any help would be great.

You're probably better off asking in the Steam forum.

You know, I have Dark Forces which also runs off of an DOS emulator, but I can't say that I've ever had this problem. I always just exit out of it and Steam picks it up as closed.
The double clocking thing might be annoying, but I think that it's probably not the worst case scenario if all you have to do to close Final Doom is run task manager.

Not sure that's entirely good for the computer to have to close it that way though. I'm sure it's fine though.

How much was it? I'd like to play the game but I wouldn't spend a whole lot on it.

Re: Steam, its games and our players.
I got it for 10 dollars during the Holiday special sale. I think it's 20 dollars now. I have a 33% Valve off coupon I think if you want it because I'm not going to use it.
EDIT- It's actually 50% off If you don't take it, it's just going to expire in my inventory lol.

Valve is for Portal 1/2, Left For Dead 1/2, all the Half-Life games, the Team Fortress games, and Counter Strike as the top ones.

So what mode do you guys mainly play? I think I'd really like survival but I doubt I'd be into versus. I'm leaning towards getting this but I'm still not sure.

I really like versus. Heads up though, Left 4 dead 2 has the entirety of 1 with it. All the maps, with the added benefits of having some of the cool stuff from 2, like new infected and weapons. (I haven't played any of the re-maps yet, though)

I would buy 2 anyways, do you mean it's pointless to buy the first game?
Explain the versus to me please.

Yes, it is kind of pointless to buy the first.
The versus is a team of 4 survivors who DON'T respawn, against a team of 4 special zombies who DO respawn. the goal of the survivors is to make it to the end of the level with at least one of you alive.
The goal of the infected? Kill 'em all.
There are several types of infected, each with their own abilities, and occasionally one of you will spawn as a "tank", a difficult to kill super-zombie.
here's a list of the in-game zombies. The ones that say playable are...well, playable. The Infected - The Left 4 Dead Wiki - Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, Survivors, Infected, walkthroughs, news, and more
