Any game with a random variable.

Re: 2014 Retro Uprising Gaming Champ
I just played a game to 26M. I had 9 extra balls at 22M. This was my first attempts at the later bonus rounds and I can say no one is going to clear those with luck. I failed on my last four attempts and I don't think I was close on any. I could see where with some practice it's doable but the game is pretty tedious in that it takes along time to get in a good run.

In pinball, luck has place, but the best player will be the champ.

Re: 2014 Retro Uprising Gaming Champ
The huge clear bonus in Dragon's Fury means clearing this one game gives you 100 points while all other games give you only 10 points for clearing. This is unbalanced and so I am making a special exception. For the purpose of calculating the Percent Bonus, if you clear Dragon's Fury you will have 180M points subtracted from your score. Take a look at Max's DF score for an example. Leaderboard

I see that as a pro, not a con. It rewards someone for blowing away the competition and encourages them to beat their own score. That is good.
The only problems - 1. games with large score gaps are weighted higher - not ideal but worth the trade off IMO. 2. The disruptive Dragon's Fury clear bonus which I removed.

And there is no way you will ever do that with luck. You must have skill.
Bad luck can cause you to lose a ball or two. Good luck alone will never give you a high score. The more skill you have the less likely luck will have any affect on your game.

180 mil is the finish bonus, not 200?
I was under the impression that you would repeal the percent for Dragon's Fury. You only repeal the finish bonus.
Small profit, just 20 points for me

Yes of course. But between players in the same skill, the luckier will beat the pinball game.

You dont need any special skill to control just 2 rackets.

So you lost all 9 extra balls(and the non extra?) within 4 million. Was it because you have no skill, or because you had bad luck?..

Well, I'd like to think I have at least a little skill when it comes to pinball Part of it was not having any experience playing the higher level bonus levels and was taken by surprise a couple of times. Mostly it was I ran out of gas. I was up way past my usual crash time and just started playing really bad. Especially the last couple of balls. Yes, there were a couple of times I'd say I had some bad luck. Once my ball got stuck while I had the middle blocker up and was about to get to a bonus level. It just blew up. It did give me an extra ball but I lost all my progress.
The reason I'd argue pinball has little to no luck is that (this game is an exception) there are no moving parts except the ball and you are totally in control of where the ball goes. If you are shooting for a ramp and miss and the ball takes a bad bounce and you lose it. That's not bad luck, that you missing your shot. Pinball is all about controlling the ball and hitting your shots. If you don't do those things it might seem like bad luck but it's really just you sucking at pinball. Knowing when and how to use the nudge is also a huge part of the game so it's not all about just using two flippers.
Edit: I see by reading the quote that I didn't say what I meant. I had a total of 9 balls, not extra's. Sorry for the confusion.

I raised my Final Soldier score but you removed those 10 points, why?
I finished again the game.

Re: 2014 Retro Uprising Gaming Champ
Again the same question,
there are 3 new scores in Final Soldier, 10 points missing, and 8 points for month instead of 9?

I think it's fair to say that the mod's are only human and perhaps forget about the +10 to final score submissions for this tournament. It's one thing to review scores but to remember a caveat...it happens.

Apparently yes. Or it could be a system's bug, as happened again. I made the post in order to fix.

Re: 2014 Retro Uprising Gaming Champ
So, what we have now? A player TodayIsForgotten returns and in a 2 days time gets 250 points with
- a 1st place in Ninja kid 2 with 579000
- a 3rd place in Double Dragon NeoGeo with 461000(first score)
- a 1st place in Final Soldier with 2091000
- a 3rd place in Metal Slug with 945000(from 330000)
- a 2nd place in Monster Slider with 400000(from 181000)
Is he a kind of superman?
What is going to come next?...
---------- Post added at 05:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:13 AM ----------
Correction, he gets 300 points.

Can you explain this any further? There is a score of 4/20 which receives 9 points, and a score of 4/22 which receives 8 points.

Re: 2014 Retro Uprising Gaming Champ
The point reduction was somewhere between those dates.
It is not every month but rather every 1/12 of the year. So it does not change on the first of the month.

Just making sure that my Monster Slider score is in the queue. Looks like hocus had a score verified on the 23rd and mine is still not verified. No biggie. No rush. Only inquiring.
@Kong - i sent you a message via the private message system. I know you're busy but if you have time to comment back at me... Again, not a huge deal, either.
