Re: 2016 Presidential Candidates
I'm not listening to that fool for 50 minutes. I'll just assume I'm right in thinking he's a fool and a very dangerous pick for president. I have no idea why he's leading in polls. People have to be deciding to vote for him because he's pandering to creationism, what else could it be?

Re: 2016 Presidential Candidates
I cannot understand how anyone seriously wants Trump for president. How do his supporters expect anything to get done when their candidate treats people like shit? How is he supposed to work with the democrats if he refuses to give any ground, refuses to admit when he makes a mistake and refuses to show any respect for people who disagree with him? How is he supposed to work with world leaders when he is already insulting them and making threats towards them?
I'm sincerely hoping that this is all a plan to get Hillary elected. I don't like her for president but she's a million times better than Trump.

Re: 2016 Presidential Candidates
What was wrong with my post? Trump is proudly outspoken about being stubborn, rude and uncompromising. His whole platform is basically "my way or the highway". I'm sincerely unable to understand the thought process behind people wanting him to represent us on the world stage and at home. If you like him as a candidate then feel free to enlighten me as to why. I realize you can't vote for him but I'd still like to hear your opinion.

I find him refreshing. He's the only candidate I've ever seen who I believe is real. His persona doesn't turn on and off for the camera, what you see is 100 percent real.
He's the same guy adressing the nation as he is walking around his own home in his underwear.
Aside from that he's really funny. I'll take 4 years of lulz over 4 years of lies any day.

Right, but if the Republican Party were even halfway competent, we wouldn't even be talking about the possibility of a Trump presidency at this point. Now he's the Republican frontrunner. For all of Romney's faults, he at least was an actual legitimate candidate. I don't even know what to make of Trump.

That is true but are those the qualities we want in a US president? Like him or not Obama helped to improve the US reputation around the world, except in a few specific cases. If Trump is elected he will undo all that work and cause lots of problems, unless he's just talking shit and doesn't follow through.

He was amusing at first but now he's showing us that he's not kidding, he really is a prick. He mocks handicap people, wants to ease laws about libel so he can sue the media for being negative(freedom of speech/press don't matter anymore?), ban muslim immigrants even though they've committed no crime, use torture techniques that are worse than waterboarding(is he planning on pulling out finger nails or what?) and he stays up late at night tossing out petty little insults on twitter like a jaded middle school girl.
On top of all that he lies constantly and it's easily proven.
http://www.politifact.com/personalities/donald-trump/
His supporters either don't care or they just pretend like all these fact checking sites have a liberal bias.
So yeah he's an amusing candidate to have in the running but why does anyone want him in charge? Being a dishonest dickhead with no filter should not qualify you for president. I realize my post is not impartial at all but I don't think I said anything that is untrue.

@Tenser: I honestly don't know which one is which.
@DB, That's the thing, I'm sure many past presidents and leaders have mocked handicapped people, they just do it when the cameras are off. And I don't see it as Trump mocking his handicap, I see it as Trump mocking him. I just see Trump as a normal person, just a real person. I've said far worse things in casual conversation with friends or whatever then I have heard out of his mouth, the level of sincerity in his statements needs to be considered.

No, Trump very intentionally mocked him by mocking his handicap-
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=biopyTgPDpc"]Donald Trump Slammed For Mocking Disabled New York Times Reporter Serge Kovaleski(VIDEO)!!!! - YouTube[/ame]
He tried to play it off as coincidence because he didn't know him but that was shown to be a lie.
Sincerity is great but when it comes to being the leader of one of the biggest super powers in the world shouldn't the person be a tad more professional and diplomatic? You know like "Speak softly and carry a big stick" kind of mentality instead of "Those who do not serve my ends, no matter how powerful they are, will be eliminated.".
Trump is a draft dodging, trust fund baby who is already promising to drop bombs on people, he's a true chicken hawk. Combine that with his inability to compromise and we have a recipe for lots of death and destruction. Canada being our ally means you guys would be dragged into whatever bullshit war he declares or he'd declare you guys to be enemies of freedom or something. Bush did that already with the war on terrorism so it's very likely to happen under a Trump presidency too. He's bad news for all of us.

Re: 2016 Presidential Candidates
@Steven. Trump is as real as the Real World. I'll give you refreshing though.
Love him or hate him, you have to admit he is a unique little snow flake and a terrific sales man.
Godwin's Law. 35% will vote for the most xenophobic, entertaining, non-politician bully that says the political system is broken. Doesn't matter if he lies because all candidates lie. The only reason he has a chance is because there were 15 other republicans fighting over the remaining 65%.
If you have a hard time understanding why anyone would vote for him watch Steven's video. It wont change your vote but you should see how he tapped into so many fox hearts.
An explanation of his success starts at 1:10.

Re: 2016 Presidential Candidates
Taken from a South Park episode earlier this past season:
"There were several candidates during the Canadian elections. One of them was this brash asshole who just spoke his mind. He didn't really offer any solutions, he just said outrageous things. We... thought it was funny. Nobody really thought he'd ever be President. It was a joke! But we just let the joke go on for too long. He kept gaining momentum, and by the time we were all ready to say 'Okay, let's get serious now. Who should really be President?' he was already being sworn into office. We weren't paying attention. We weren't paying attention!"

--
Anyway on a more recently relevant note, I think it's interesting that everyone I've encountered, especially offline, who supports Trump cites the fact that he speaks his mind as something that would make him a good president. While, on a superficial level, that seems appealing, it runs into issues when you start to really think about the what the president does. For the most part, the president is there to take heat for whatever goes down in congress, and to commit the occasional war crime via executive order, since the president's powers are incredibly limited.
The most important thing the president does is talk. Speeches here, speeches overseas, conversations with other various puppets and figureheads, and even the few leaders who have a more significant degree of direct power, all figure greatly into the perception of America as a national entity, both here and abroad. If you just sort of speak your mind and go out of your way to personally attack people, all you're going to do is create tensions within the nation and, more importantly, outside of the nation.
Now, think about it, say you piss off someone who legitimately holds power, either by talking to them directly or by saying something in a state of the union address, or even in a throwaway dinner conversation that someone happened to record, not unfeasible in the day of cell-phones and such, this could lead to economic negotiations going poorly, or even all-out war.
That's not to say I think we need a president who is entirely spineless and who only says the safest possible thing in every situation, but having an incredibly hot-headed president who is outright hostile and who lacks eloquence is probably a less than optimal situation. There's a difference between expressing disapproval/distaste/disagreement in a productive way and personally insulting someone to distract from the fact that you have nothing worthwhile to say. One can lead to progress in a negotiation and the other leads to anything from a negotiation breaking down to severe sanctions to war.
I believe that war is fundamentally the wrong answer in most cases short of genocide or direct, large-scale threat on the general population.
Another issue I have with Trump is that he's a very wishy-washy sort of person. If you look at things he's done over the years, it becomes apparent that he only has one conviction, the pursuit of wealth. He does and says whatever leads him to the highest personal profit, it's not hard to imagine him pushing for, or even enacting through executive orders, various things that strengthen corporate interests purely for the sake of increasing his own wealth and generally solidifying the power of the corporation over the individual.
And finally, if all you do is speak your mind, but everything on your mind is awful, it ceases to be a valuable trait.
Of course, there's always the problem that almost every politician is fundamentally somewhat awful and that it's always a lesser of two evils sort of situation where even if there is a genuinely good candidate, electing him will make less of an impact than you'd expect. The real heart of our nations problems lie within our courts and within congress, but both are structured in such a way to make change as difficult and slow as possible.

You have that backwards. Trump has been in legal trouble for decades. He either settles out of court to avoid being found guilty or he sues the party that is suing him, in other words he uses his fortune and high paid lawyers to intimidate people into dropping the case. Just go read about Trump University to see the kind of scum bag he really is. He deceived thousands of people and raked in hundreds of thousands of dollars from them. Then when an attorney general got involved they found that Trump was possibly breaking the law by dishonestly referring to it as a university and he was forced to change it. He then sued a former student to silence her and lost. Three lawsuits connected to that are still pending.
So how many things has Hillary done by comparison? Off the top of my head I remember Whitewater, no conviction, and Bengazhi, no conviction after countless attempts from conservatives. Why is it fair to call her a literal criminal and not Trumpy? Let me guess, you like Trump so he's not a bad guy.

I don't talk politics much, if at all, if I have to be honest about it. The government has long been crap for at least 30 years, if not more. I am a moderate, leaning probably more to the conservative side of things, I guess. From my vantage point, it seems like more and more this country is being driven toward a welfare state. It almost seems more profitable to be on government assistance than actual working for an honest wage. Which I guess is great, except when the money runs out from the remaining working people that decide to join in when 60% of their "income" is going toward taxes to fund these people. Don't get me wrong, there are people in this country that actually need this help, I don't blame them. It's the lard asses that take advantage of the system that the government allows them to get away with this fraud.
As for the foreign affairs aspect of the office, we have been a laughing stock of other countries forever. If our leader isn't using a wrong expression or throwing up on another countries leader (kind of ironic that those instances are from the same family), we have been a punch line. We have gotten better (it's the one quality of Obama I do not have an issue with) , but we are still an embarrassment in the world.
In my opinion, we need to improve this country on the inside instead of the outside. What I mean is we have more than enough problems inside this country, stop trying to solve everyone else's and work on items here. Unemployment may be the lowest it's been in a long while, but those jobs that helped the rate go down, don't pay squat. Also, get rid of the Affordable Care Act. I have seen that screw over more people (including myself) than it has helped. In order for the insurance to be "affordable" the "coverage" is as thick as a square of one-ply toilet paper. As an accountant, I've seen both of these items ruin families and companies almost to the point of no return.
I'm not sure if this really has much to do with the topic, I did not go through the rest of the topic to read probably some really good points for either "candidate". I'm too tired to read it all since I'm working for nothing as my retirement dwindles out of control to the depths of hell. Considering that I am in a two-income home and still can't seem to make ends meet, something is definitely screwed up and needs to be fixed.
I guess I'll just write in Mickey Mouse for president, since make-believe characters seem to be better than the "real" choices. If I was to vote for a Clinton, Hillory would not even be on my top three (George, George (former VP in the 1800's )and Bill if you needed to know).
I also apologize for all the quotes, my sarcastic nature got the best of me.

Re: 2016 Presidential Candidates
Do you realize the amount of death in her past behind people that spoke out against her? There's no way in hell that's all coincidence. She's a psychopath and I don't put it past her to put a hit out on anybody. The person that set up her email server was granted legal immunity, so he talked. I predict he'll be dead soon, because that's just how she is. She's the definition of establishment, and her ONLY goal in life is this seat of power, at any cost.
I'm not expecting you to like Trump at all, but hilldog has more dirt in her past than the rest of the presidential race combined. Someone that admires the current leader of Germany, the one that's tearing Europe apart, is far and away the worst choice for president. You bet I'm heated, I hate the hell out of her. 8 years as first lady in the White House was already enough.
