That is really shady, but as long as its legal i cant exactly condemn it. Though i do agree it needs to become illegal after this season. Also, Denver and Dallas were both eliminated, so its NE/IND and SEA/GB in the championships. Now that Denver's eliminated, i think its time Peyton rode off into the sunset

If you don't know, they adopted a technique where they pulled a lineman out of the game and replaced him with an extra skill player who then reports as ineligible to touch the ball and lines up split out as a WR. Baltimore then had little tme to read and adjust before the ball was snapped.

Apparently this is legal per the NFL rules(but probably not for long when the NFL changes it after the season, or at least how long the defense gets to adjust). It may be legal, but to me it's a shady technique to use just because you found a loophole in the rules.

Regardless, I'm happy the Pack pulled out a win despite having a gimpy quarterback. They have to do something about Rodgers' leg 'cause I don't think they'll be able to scrape by Seattle like that.

The problem here, I think, if not where the guy lines up but more how much time does the defense get to scan it and make adjustments. Harbaugh's argument is there was too little time between the player reporting as ineligible and the ball being snapped.

The refs can and do stop the offense from snapping the ball at times to make sure the defense has time to substitute, but it is up to the refs how much time is reasonable.

It seems like they made sure it was legal before doing it. I don't like sports and I avoid its news but the amount of salty people I've heard crying about this is absurd. I bet if it was their chosen team they wouldn't be mad.

Officially, the offense has no obligation to allow the defense to make substitutions or prepare themselves for the next play. I've seen plenty of times where the offense tries to quickly line up and make the snap while the defense is subbing to either catch the defense off-guard or to draw a penalty of too many men on the field. That's just how football works, if the defense wants to substitute, that's the risk they take.

Sounds like the refs literally dropped the ball(s) here. My understanding is teams try to sneak in underinflated balls all the time, which is why the refs inspect them before the game.

They are inspected before the game, but then returned to a ball attendant employed by each team.

Marshawn Lynch. He's a football player, not a financial company.

Such a horrible play call in that situation. I would have rushed Lynch four times, as would pretty much anyone else.

Hopefully they sit and feel bad about it all year because that was the dumbest play calls in the history of the sport.

They're going to win THE SUPER BOWL and all they have to do is run the ball 2 yards with your freaking tank man. They even had two time outs to waste.

And then they could have hoped for a miracle mistake to happen when snapping at the two yard line. Force a safety, somehow get them to fumble, ANYTHING. Nah, we'll push ourselves back with penalties and fights so they have plenty of room to snap.

W/e Patriots win AGAIN.

Next year is Super Bowl 50, AKA Super Bowl L.
