So no more idling in text mode to get items in TF2.

Announced on their blog last night, the new system pauses item drops for anyone not playing the game. Valve describe active as someone who:

• Is connected to a VAC secured server.
• Is responding to in-game drop notifications while not utilizing external programs to do so.
• Is running only one instance of the game.
• Is not in textmode.

As long as you meet these requirements, you’ll still be earning items – subject to the regular cap rates. Valve say that idlers aren’t in danger of VAC bans, having items removed or being penalised in any other way – just that their drops will be suspended until they resume active play.

Olde news bro, me and SJB have been crying about it for days. Well not really crying but I think we're both kinda bummed to have this happen so soon after we got involved in it.

That being said I'm still idling with very little issue. Just set the game on the lowest setting, find a quiet idle server and set some text commands like -no sound. I check it every 45 mins and click accept.

Hopefully this means keys will drop in price and other stuff will go up. I just got my first salvaged crate today and it's only worth around 8 bucks. I'm gonna stash it and see if it skyrockets in a few months.

I have 3 BioShock Infinite cards for the Summer Trading Card thing.

I need the Football Manager 2013, Kerbal Space Program, Reus, Tomb Raider, and Torchlight II cards. So if anyone has an extra of one of these/wants the BioShock want, I'm up for trading 2 of them.

If you use backpack.tf, you can see if you get an item as soon as
it drops. It's linked to your backpack so it tells you the moment
if you get new items.

If you replace my Steam ID Number with yours you can see it:

You guys need to go to your badges page and scroll down to see what friends have the cards you need. I have tons but it's not easy for me to check which ones will help. If you message me about it on steam I'll be more than happy to help you.

@SJB- It looks like TMTs cards won't help you get levels unless you plan on trading them and I can assure you that isn't very easy or quick. You'd be better off getting cards from me.

I bought Garry's Mod on a Trade Server today for some metal. I was
wondering, what is Garry's Mod, I see alot of people playing it,
but I have no idea what you do in it. Since I got it nice and
cheap, I was thinking about selling it once the Steam Summer Sale

It's a sandbox with Source engine where you can pretty much do anything.

Primarily, it boils down to two game modes; either messing around with physics and ragdolls, or playing multiplayer games that are based off of counter strike such as Trouble in Terrorist Town.

How much of it is content locked until you buy packs?

I havent progressed very far to know, but i know you have to unlock characters by either paying for it or finding rare drops called unlock tokens. The five playables from the start are thing, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Storm and Daredevil
