I think the F word is so unwanted because of the not only the subject matter, but the fact that "ck" makes a somewhat verbally explosive, opening it up for a more extreme sound. That's why it can be more offensive than, "I want to rape you", when in reality, isn't as severe.

Same with "the other poop" word, it's more verbally distinct, which makes using it with "You're full of" more offensive than "poop", when it means the same thing.

Once again, the "bad" words are more passionate, so they're more offensive. It's easy just to say that substitutes have the same meaning, but they don't. The curse words are a step up.

"Go freak yourself, craphead."

"Go f*ck yourself, sh*thead."

They technically mean the same thing, but they're not synonymous. The second is more offensive. I'm not sure if this is because of society's edge, or because of how it sounds. Probably both.

fuck yeah kong, what up everyone. I know i was truly missed in these parts. I was reading through this one and was wondering why no one could cuss in an "R" rated forum. Kongs last post clarified that. Anyway... I think people that are offended by swear words are extremely uptight and need to loosen up a little bit, well, a lot. When it comes down to it though, someone could say they are offended by any word. I, on the other hand, am not offended by any word and wish that our freedom of speech was truly that. So in closing, fuck the FCC and all the tight-ass whiney bastards that get offended by w-o-r-d-s.

Religion plays a part in what is socially acceptable. My wife doesn't see the english swears as bad words.

All her French swears are religious in nature (maybe just Quebec French). I never use the church swears like 'jesus christ' or 'for christs sakes' yet I say 'for shit sakes'. Makes more sense to me.

I swear like a sailor and have a hard time not to around kids or certain social situations. I find nothing in the english language offensive enough not to say. Maybe only the racist terms because it offends someone else but not me.

When I'm mad I use mostly religious themed swears and it's not intentional I just do it by habit. Maybe my parents used them all the time, I don't remember.

I suffer a strange affliction when it comes to swearing:

I have been the foreman of some 'interesting' characters at work, and in that scenario it tends to smooth things over if I speak

I can 'cuss up a storm' in the manner you guys describe above, (and at times people have asked me to tone it down) but when it comes time for
someone else
to be swearing in my presence, my feathers get
all ruffled.

In exasperation it's usually "what the fuck".

I had one of my staff going to call me a Fuckin Idiot (or something similiar) one time but he started to stutter. All he got out was Fuckin fuck fuck. I laughed my ass off and now even use that one. I even seen a shirt on the net with that saying.

Another expression by a Newfie was 'go fuck your hat' which I think translates to 'fuck off'. But I find it funny for some reason.

In Do The Right Thing, an Asian character who does not speak great English says "Mother fuck you". I think that's a great phrase, and I use it frequently.

I also really like how Lewis Black uses curse words. My is how he says "fuck" instead of "fucking", for example when I saw him live there was a helicopter overhead at one point during his set and he said he was annoyed by "this fuck helicopter like it's fuck Vietnam".

@OT: I like fucking fuck fuck. I think I'll start calling people that.

and then I point at the screen while saying:

That's fucking BULLSHIT!'

I dont think crap,bloody or silly little words like that are offensive, but some of these really old basterds do.

Me - "Oh fuck I swore again"

...And so on....

In certain cultures people wouldnt call another person a "Motherfucker" because the other person would kill them. Though in some places people use it freely like "hey whats up Motherfuckaaaa!"

I dont find swaring offensive, I find it offensive when people dont sware, Just chill man and be yourself!

Funny. I'm quite fond of the term "motherfucking cocksucker". Shit is one I use too. I cuss from time to time, but only when I think the situation merits it.

Euphemisms are lame. I know exactly what someone is really saying. Either say it or don't say it. Don't half-ass it.
