There is an undeniable difference in his president and governor speeches.
Possible explanations:
1. Bush made some good speeches while president. he probably made some bad ones as governor too and he just has always had his good days and his bad days. Once you become president people look really hard to find your bad days and they will find them - especially with the Internet.
2. Drugs have wrecked his brain. There are lots of rumors, that I think might be based on evidence, that he has been a heavy drinker and cokehead.
3. The stress of being president is too much for him.
4. Age is causing dementia.
5. He thinks the American people want an average Joe for president.

Personally I think it is a combination of all of the above.

I blame religion. I think he caved to everything the religious right wanted, at least until he got reelected and didn't need thier votes.

Off topic. What do you think about this white style instead of the normal dark one.

This one is called clean. The other is called default. I was considering making this one the default.

@Kong: It's king of boring. I like the default style.

Bush's crappy public speaking is at least partly an act. He flubs lines in order to make himself look like a regular guy. Thus, people can relate to him. Had we never attacked Iraq, he would have been much more popular, at least among the conservatives. Remember, this is the guy who was president during 9/11. If I remember rightly, his approval ratings were very high in the immediate period after. But, for whatever reason, he decided to finish what his father started and kill Saddam. This exacerbated the public sentiment that Bush was an idiot. In the end, the man got vilified by the left and disowned by his own party. I don't think Bush is as stupid as most people think he is, but there is no arguing that he was one of the worst presidents in the history of the United States.

I like them both. I do think the darker colors are more retro themed though.
