In the future there will probably be two categories for high score trophies.
1. Normal.
2. Farmed. If a game can be farmed and you have the high score you will be listed as the champion of that game as normal but the trophy will be kept separate from the normal trophies and will not count towards your total normal high scores trophies.

Example. If you have the high score in Tetris, Bucky O'Hare, and Sonic then you would have one normal high score and two farmed high scores. It would not matter if you actually farmed or not. If it is possible to farm the game then the trophy goes into the farmed trophies list. Your total high score count would be 1 because Tetris would be the only one that counted. Your total framed high scores would be two.

That does not necessarily mean that the farming trophies are going to be a good thing if you have a bunch of farmed trophies and farmed in them those will be the most changed over and will get out of hand on the scores. To me that would make me not want to play them other then fun. In that case I could care less about a trophy that is farmed.

@cameron...let me get this straight, you are upset because i farmed a score and beat your hiscore after you farmed a score to beat my previous high score...what is the logic in that? you are upset because i farmed better than you did? lets propose that farming is "cheating", that still means i am better at it than you, thus deserving credit for it.

i guess this is a question aimed towards the administrator. is farming for scores on ru against the rules, or just frowned upon. if it is against the rules, by all means, strip the trophy from me.

ughh!!! jim I farmed my FIRST high scote to beat your FIRST hig score then YOU
beat mine probably by farming and then I went and beat the game killing EVERY
enemy pretty much to get an HONEST SCORE so that is low of you to farm again

If a game is easy to farm then why even worry about the high score? I've given up on Jeopardy since I'm sure 99% of the high scores are farmed. I could out farm them all but what's the point?

Well soon enough that all wont matter. Its not worth crying about it when both of you admitted that it was farmed. Its not a very good game anyway. :P

Officialy, farming is legal but frowned upon. A farmed score may be deleted but usually will not be.

I can see that point but I don't consider it an accomplishment to farm a score. If I can't earn it then it's not mine.
Farming is cheating. The only time it's not is a single player game, then it's just dumb.

I don't think farming is dumb at all in a single player game. I'll farm to refill life, regain ammo, get enough points for a free life, etc... Also, don't 99% of all RPGs require you to farm for gold and/or experience?

How is it even possible to get a score on an RPG? Start looking forward to rushing to get better scores on puzzle games anyhow, those are the only things that will count after the farm-trophy modification.

If you had actually bothered to read my post instead of skimming over it before you replied you would understand that I was speaking of single-player games and not high score arcade games.

Just about 0 of my scores are farmable. Neither are most of anyone else's. The farm-trophy modification will not take away every game or even the simple majority. Most games aren't farmable, go to the arcade and get some support for your posts.

official rules state that farming is frowned upon there is no way to prevent it from being farmed

if it can be proved that it was farming
for example you got a score of 1 million on the first level
but someone else has a score of .5 million on the last level
you can clearly tell that the score is farmed

there are several games that the mods and admin know are farmable if the farming in that game gets abused to much they just turn the scores for that game off so the complaining stops

bucky o hair is a easily farmable game the enemys respawn when you leave the screen
so if you have that game chances are people are going to farm it

that is why I too like the 2 trophies Idea
but its not going to stop the complaints anyways

so @jim farming is bad and frowned upon (and in my oppion you should use real skill to get a high score)
also I think cam was saying that he beat the game and without farming and you still stole the high score so you would have to prove that he farmed as well to have your remark be valid

and if you farmed this score what is to say you did not farm your previous high score?

farming just looks bad on your character and that is why its frowned upon but there is no way to stop it

thanks for answering my question concerning whether farming was against ru rules or just frowned upon.

2nd, you are right that i would have to prove that cam farmed as well for my remark to be valid...well, cameron would have to prove that he actually beat the game without farming. i don't think he did.

3rd...about farming a previous score...i probably did.

i'm not going to sit here and defend farming. is it unethical to do so to receive a high score, sure it is, i won't debate that. however, if you are farm for a score, don't cry when someone beats it. has ten pointed out, it has its place in video games...anyone that says they never farmed while playing megaman to get extra lives or to fill energy tanks is a liar.

the point i want to make is the ridiculousness of cameron's arguement. he is upset and crying about how it isn't fair that i farmed a high score when he admitted that he beat one of my high scores by farming. he is saying how low it is of me take back the high score by using the same method he used to take it from me. it shouldn't matter that he beat the game legit (so he says) to get a legal highscore in his most recent attempt, he had farmed before and raised the high score bar before.

i dont see how anyone can get any sort of satisfaction submiting a farmed score, like a few mentioned "saving up" in a one player game is completely acceptable because the point is to beat the game, using whatever the game gives you to do so.

on a side note: what are the rules as far as rolling over a score? as in 99999999 back to 00000000, should i try to save real quick before it potentially rolls over? or if i get a screen shot that proves what level i was on will the score just be added to 99999999? i know most games dont roll over but some do, and i havent gotten 9999999 in any game yet but im sure itll happen eventually.

also the idea of only displaying unfarmable trophies is awsome, its the way it should be.

1. I deleted the 2 scores that were admitted to farming.
2. If a high score is obviously farmed it is deleted - the two trophy system would change this.
3. We haven't completely worked out the rule about roll over scores. I am in favor of not counting them, Tenser wants to keep tabs on them by looking at the level.

5. You should PM Tenser or Sabby about farmed score issues.

I'm not going to worry about high scores anymore really unless it's a quick arcade game like when you get snes I"ll have the Earth defence force and SOS tropies although I realized the game glitches if you save more than 7 people but I found a glitch around that glitch so I don't think it would be called farming in SOS but I know how to save more than 7 people it's a very tricky thing to figure out and do though, and also I could probably get the T-2 arcade game high score ;D
and jim I'm not really upset like you think it's just unfair don't you think?

As for rollover scores. The current theory I like is allowing for rollovers in games where you're able to determine the level while disabling scores in games that do not.

Ladybug for Coleco has been rolled over and I'm accepting them because it displays the players level on the game over screen. It takes about 40 lovels to get a million points. On the other hand, it's nearly impossible to determine the level the score was taken on in 1942 which rolls over, so that trophy has been disabled. Otherwise I would own the 1942 trophy as well.
