Well, using it exactly the way I did might be a Canadian thing, but it's not so far off shouting "Hey Buddy, watch it!" after getting cut off in traffic.

Re: Current events!
So is there anything behind why they make Canadians look like that? I'm guessing it's nothing more than an effective way of making them distinct.

Re: Current events!
I think it's to separate them from Americans, like with Kyle and Ike, but also to be amusing. Btw the look is not limited to Canadians-
Also this is funny-

They forgot the maple syrup industry though.

Justin Bieber's murder plotted, police say - CNN.com
Quote:
|
A convicted felon and his 23-year-old nephew plotted to castrate and murder pop singer Justin Bieber
|
Quote:
|
Martin, who is serving two life sentences for the 2000 rape and murder of a 15-year-old girl in Barre, Vermont, is said to be so infatuated with Bieber that he had a tattoo of the pop star on his leg.
|
What? Can someone help me understand this? From what I read this guy was released twice even though he raped and murdered a 15 year old girl back in 2000? Unless I missed it the article doesn't explain how that's possible.
Also wow, imagine if he went through with his plan? I have no love for Beiber but he certainly doesn't deserve that.

Nevermind, didn't read the article before I responded.
Pretty crazy that we put people away for life for selling drugs but let out the murderes and rapist.

Nevermind I figured it out by reading it on a different site. The guy who killed that girl is a third party they met in prison and hatched the plot with. I swear CNN is terrible at reporting the news.

Sounds like more reason to avoid going to Mexico for the foreseeable future. I know I wouldn't wanna travel around there unarmed.
Obama: Enforcing pot laws in states that have legalized it not a top priority – CNN Political Ticker - CNN.com Blogs
Quote:
|
"This is a tough problem, because Congress has not yet changed the law," Obama said. "I head up the executive branch; we're supposed to be carrying out laws. And so what we're going to need to have is a conversation about, How do you reconcile a federal law that still says marijuana is a federal offense and state laws that say that it's legal?"
|
This is a good question and it will keep coming up until something major changes. Will the government ignore the will of the people and bypass state law? They're already doing it in California despite the weed industry creating jobs and money for the state-
Quote:
In California alone, more than 1,000 medical marijuana dispensaries are in business, employing thousands and providing state and local governments as much as $105 million in taxes each year.
But federal prosecutors are getting tougher. Last year, law enforcement agents seized 3.9 million plants in the Golden State and were poised to collect more this year.
|
This seems pretty unfair to me. The people have spoken, enough is enough. Where I live it was decriminalized for small amounts but the police have publicly said that they're trying to find ways around the will of the people so they can go right back to ruining lives over personal use.

26 people, 18 children died at the hands of this maniac. I swear, these things are getting worse and worse. Makes me sick thinking about it.

This one really shocked me. They're all bad but gunning down young kids is just unfathomable. I hope we hear the motive at least.

How do you not cover something like this though? It's not like you could have a media blackout in this age of FB and twitter.

Some of these guys do this stuff for the media attention, others do it for no reason. The suicides guarantee the perpetrator can't be punished later and that part is sad.

I actually hope they don't say; it could encourage others having similar thoughts to act out, in my opinion.
Like that guy who sent the video to the TV station years ago - I bet a lot of these newer ones were inspired by that.
Again, just my opinion.

Yes, it does.

Re: Current events!
I wanna know the motive because the story is so covered already and I know all the other details. I wanna know what set him off so we can hopefully prevent it in the future. I read that this shooter was really smart but his mother pushed him hard to over achieve. Shooting his mom and then going on a rampage at the school she worked at and he once attended suggests that he snapped because of that pressure. If there's another motive I'd like to hear it.

His mother pushed him hard to over-achieve, and taught him how to use her military assault rifle. Then all it takes is one really bad day and/or possibly some undiagnosed mental illness.

What adds on to this is that Westboro planned to protest. However, the hacker group Anonymous stopped it by publishing the wackos' most personal information. When are these idiots who call themselves a church going to learn? Protesting the funerals of the victims will only bring further grief.

Re: Current events!
Good for them. This is a great cause for them to pursue, even if they're breaking the law by invading privacy and hacking their webpages. Sometimes you have to step outside the law to get results apparently.
Also the Reddit community is forming a counter protest to block the WBC, a silent wall they're calling it. It's funny in a way because these hate mongers are doing more to unite the country then good people trying to unite us. How many times will you see bikers, Redditors, Anon and the average joe on the same protest line?

Re: Current events!
Every news outlet I've seen with that story is liberally using both "Wii" and "Wii U" to describe the stolen product. I can't tell if they're using just "Wii" for short, or think the "U" part is some kind of peripheral, or something else.

Pretty sure it's just the media in general, seems like anytime a subject comes up that I happen to know a bit about, they mess up details. I figure they do the same for everything.
