I'm not gonna go back and forth about it but you're wrong. The populations are not bigger than ever. First all ever would include before humans decimated their numbers up until maybe 50 years ago or so. Now their populations are up from when they were seriously endangered but their populations are in decline. Pollution and climate change are taking a heavy toll. The native people hunting them isn't helping either.
