That really makes no sense. A Public city isn't owned by anyone, therefore it's name can be freely used. That's like Michael Bloomberg suing the show I love New York.

To me the most important part of this is what the names mean. Batman as we know him means a Bat Man, like he's a bat. The city of Batman is some turkish name(if I remember right), so it has nothing in common besides the spelling. I'm betting it's not even pronounced the same.

Sounds to me like they are religious nutjobs who are offended by the symbolism of batman. If that's the case then boo hoo. Grow up. I mean, if they even watched the movie they'd know Batman is a GOOD guy not something to be ashamed of. Idiots.

It is probably good for tourism. They should pay Batman for the free advertisement. They probably even have brochures that say "Come visit the town that sued itself."

It's a town(province?) of about 500k people and it looks like it was founded @ 1955. Seems it's named after the Bati Raman mountains. So yeah, if the character was named bati raman and they called him Batman then I'd see thier point.

Also it looks like we have a military base there, explains how they even know about Batman.

Oh and they probably don't need tourism with the military base there, that and the OIL. Now I'm even less sympathetic.

And they're just suing DC for the name? It should had at least ripped off an idea for them to be sued because a city in Turkey doesn't sound like a dude who beats up criminals at night with his fists.
