I have posted this on several forums, so if it sounds a bit impersonal, it is because it is copied and pasted. I didn't know if any of you guys could help me with this, but I figured it was worth a shot.
One of my friends gave me a broken Xbox from the store he works at, and I am seeing if I can make it work. Its light flashes between orange and green. The only information I can find on this particular problem elsewhere is that it means my AV isn't fully connected. That isn't the problem with my Xbox. I have used several AV cables and made sure they are plugged in good.
Can anyone give me alternate information on what my problem could be, and perhaps suggestions on how to fix it?
Oh, and this might need to be said: As far as I know this console has never been modded.
No, I haven't opened it up. I am going to go to my parents' house tonight where there are tools and crack it open. I don't know much about electrical stuff, but my old man knows a little. I was just seeing if I get get any tips prior (or after even, if I don't get it up and running).
Yeah as far as I've heard the orange/red lights have to do with the power supply. Also, one of the 360s my brother had wouldn't work without a fan directly on the back of it. Whatever kind of fan is in there was dead.
I'm dealing with an old Xbox, not a 360. I cracked it open just now and I couldn't see any obvious problems. I don't really know much about electrical stuff, but the theory is that something in the motherboard's circuitry is messed up. It isn't worth it to go through there and test em all, plus I don't know how to solder. I guess I will give up on my hope for a free Xbox and go buy one.
Well I am pretty sure I know what the problem is, it just isn't worth it to fix it. Clearly the electricity isn't getting to where it needs to go, and I am sure it is an issue with the circuitry on the mother-board. I don't want to individually test the circuits, and I don't feel confident with a soldering iron nor do I own one. It is just more of a hastle than it is work. I'm going to sell it for parts and buy a working one on Black Friday. ;D
Please tell me you're going to buy a 360. If not then you might as well just send me the money you were going to waste on a normal Xbox so I can buy some games.
