The trailers so far:
A brief explanation of the trailers:
Originally the game was simply shown off as "Ground Zeroes". The "Phantom Pain" trailer was revealed separately under a fake studio as a sort of gag-ruse concocted by Kojima to hype up the game via fan conspiracy, and there was no direct association announced to Ground Zeroes at the time (but there were a lot of intentionally not-subtle hints).
The game is a chronological sequel to Metal Gear Solid 3 and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. It seems to further follow up after Naked Snake's acceptance of his reputation as "Big Boss", as well as taking another step to connecting the prequels to the original Metal Gear.
I'm pretty excited. I tried a few of the games here and there, but Peace Walker was what really brought me into the series strongly, and this game seems more or less a direct sequel to that. Kojima is clearly having a lot of fun with the way he's presenting this (even setting up a whole fake Twitter account and impersonating the C.E.O of the fake studio in a comical manner) and seems pretty proud of his work.
What does RU think? Will it be too cutscene-ey?
