I only knew about it due to the Pete rose topic. I agree it shouldn't be hidden but I also can see why it is as it can lead to heated debates like before.
As for the topic at hand I have absolutely no idea about confederate but if it's part of history it should be left. I mean we get a yearly reminder each year for black history month.
It makes me think of an article I read recently about a minor league MLB team trying to do a Caucasian heritage theme and it blowing up and led to resigns. That shit is stupid and in all honesty I hate anything to do with race and how some stuff gets promoted but some can't is just stupid. Quit living in the past fellas.

It's everywhere. I remember back at walgreens when I worked there I'd be called racist because I'd not let them use the restroom due to company policy being its closed until 8 am.

Tip of the iceberg my friend. There are some people in very powerful positions trying to abolish "the best man for the job", that's right, you may be the best candidate for the position, but you will not get the job because your skin color isn't right, that's racism under the guise of affirmative action. It's disgusting.

I've seen and heard about it sadly.
Hasn't occured at my work, in fact there's an all white manager staff (save one who is Iranian), but at the same time it's a very tame environment.
Re: Apple removes all games depicting the confederate flag
Apple is being stupid as usual. Removing historical references to the flag is obviously illogical. It should only be removed from government buildings/schools/license plates/ect.
Re: Apple removes all games depicting the confederate flag
Is the confederate flag the one with the snake which reads 'don't tread on me'?
ON RACISM:
I don't think that word means what you think it means, America.
What it is supposed to mean is a prejudiced attitude toward someone or something based on the race of the person/ creator of the object in question.
The new meaning seems to go something like:
'I am applying the label of racist to express my displeasure with people who have either disagreed with me or who have denied me something, regardless of whether the issue at hand has anything to do with race at all.'

Nah that's the Gadsden Flag. It was created during the American revolution but today it's mainly used by teabaggers who hate immigrants.

Regardless of what the confederate flag originally stood for it is now a symbol of racism. White power losers fly it alongside the swastika, the KKK flies it and it was used by people campaigning against civil rights. Here's a couple quotes from people who know about this issue-
Quote:
The battle flag was never adopted by the Confederate Congress, never flew over any state capitols during the Confederacy, and was never officially used by Confederate veterans' groups. The flag probably would have been relegated to Civil War museums if it had not been resurrected by the resurgent KKK and used by Southern Dixiecrats during the 1948 presidential election.
Quote:
It is no accident that Confederate symbols have been the mainstay of white supremacist organizations, from the Ku Klux Klan to the skinheads. They did not appropriate the Confederate battle flag simply because it was pretty. They picked it because it was the flag of a nation dedicated to their ideals: 'that the negro is not equal to the white man'. The Confederate flag, we are told, represents heritage, not hate. But why should we celebrate a heritage grounded in hate, a heritage whose self-avowed reason for existence was the exploitation and debasement of a sizeable segment of its population?

I don't really know what they're about on that issue but I hear they're a Koch brothers funded conservative party that bills itself as grassroots or "for the people". God, guns and murrica. Uber patriot stuff.

Be careful when you're being cheeky.
I'd hate to piss any religious fanatics off, especially ones who pack rifles.
