White Knight Chronicles (it was cheap)
Valkyria Chronicles (heard good things)
Castlevania: Harmony of Despair (for playing with friends)
Yakuza 3 (was also cheap)

Can anyone think of some games that I should look into getting?

Probly not. I'm not big on 3D Castlevania's. that and it doesn't really feel like Castlevania to me. From what I played, anyway. idk.

Nope, servers are up indefinitely.
CLoS is a great game. People have to remember it's a REBOOT / REIMAGINING of the series (not talking to you, btw, lol) so they give it all this negative criticism but it's a great game. Give it a chance. Rent it from Gamefly if you have it for whatever reason or borrow it from a friend. Beautiful environments, the music is awesome, and the voice acting is perfect (Patrick Stewart voices a main character).
So yeah, get it!

Indeed, in fact I'd play offline until you level up some(unless you stay in soul form) or you can be invaded by other players who can kill you. Demon's Souls servers will be up for a while. They just put it on the PSN and got an influx of new players.

Some other games I like:
Heavy Rain-it's more like an interactive movie so it's not for everyone, but you have to make choices that affect the outcome.

Uncharted 1-3: 3rd person shooters with puzzle elements reminiscent of Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider

Littlebigplanet: I really liked it, it's not very hard but the creation aspect can vastly extend the games playtime. Make your own levels or play ones others have made. Littlebigplanet 2 is far more active and has a greater variety of levels, though I haven't played it.

Idk, Little Big Planet just never seemed like my thing.

Well, I've put over 100 hours into Dark Souls on pc and I consider the online to play a big part in that. I just remember them saying they'd shut the servers down, then they decided not to, and that was the last I ever heard of it.
Oooh, Folklore looks neat. Never heard of it until now. For some reason, that trailer really reminded me of Lost Kingdoms for Gamecube.
I never like reboots/re-imaginings unless it's a one off type deal, but if I find it for a good price I'll get it. Or if it's in a redbox anywhere. actually, maybe it has a demo I can download. (I also really like all the demos there are for download.)

Folklore has a demo in the store so I suggest you give it a go. Oddly it didn't show up when I searched for it by name(only the DLC showed) but it is in the All Demo's section just sort by letter.

Valkyria Chronicles is an excellent game. Definitely in my top PS3 games. The other games I played and are among my favourites are...

Eternal Sonata (incredibly beautiful scenarios, good music by Chopin and Motoi Sakuraba, interesting battle system, very good story)
Folklore (great story and atmosphere, good gameplay and depth)
Nier Gestalt (repetitive gameplay, but a great OST and an outstanding story (among the best I've seen in any game))
Star Ocean 4 (very pretty aesthetic, fun battle system, very good item synthesis, good characters, very good OST)
Bayonetta (very nice baroque-style scenarios, DMC-like gameplay, but improved and polished, really great OST mixing jazz, classical and Castlevania-style music)

Two games I didn't play but I believe are gonna be awesome...

Ni No Kuni (beautiful design by renowned anime studio Ghibli, a very nice OST by the studio's composer Joe Hisaishi, a very addictive battle system and a good elaborate story)
BioShock (beautiful steampunk style mixing early 20th century, with baroque touches and some future things, with nice jazz music in the background, good FPS gameplay with some very welcome original things and an intricate, deep and very cared story)

And, as a final note, a remake...

Okami HD (if you didn't have the change to play this gem on the PS2 or the Wii, then definitely go buy it. It's in my opinion the best game EVER)

Valkyria Chronicles is indeed a great game. I was late to the party about it and picked it up about a year ago for $18.

My only gripe with the game is that it has a huge flaw that makes some of the battles really easy until towards the end of the game.

Still an awesome game and some battle are still quite difficult until you figure out the proper plan of attack.

okay to help narrow out the choices. I'm more looking for PS3 only games. Anything multi-plat, I've already played.

Without giving too much away, one class can become ridiculously overpowered and be used to beat battles in 1 or 2 turns

It's only a flaw if you notice it and decide to exploit it. You can play and win without exploiting it very easily.

Sorry for saying the obvious, but the Uncharted series is an amazing asset to the PS3 exclusives, the 1 is very good, but if you are looking for outstanding, you can skip to the second (one of the best ps3 games).

The InFamous Collection is pretty fun too, very well made games. And if you are into more retro games and didn't play it on PS2, the ICO - Shadow of the Colossus is a very good option as well, SotC is a beautiful and amazin game.

I also recently got a PS3. I bought it pretty much so I could play Ni No Kuni, and I would say it was absolutely worth it. I couldn't put it down. I still play it once in a while even thought I've beaten it, just to run around and fight things and stuff. Maybe one you should rent before you buy, since it is 60 bucks new. But I highly recommend it.
