Pretty stoked I must admit. Hopefully I can improve the score this year, depending on whether I'll submit to TG or not. Also good to get in before they start charging for submissions.
Tournament settings is 5 lives maximum
I have no idea what rhyme or reason they used to pick which scores to list though. Isn't the TG Arcade 5-men TGTS Galaga score like 4.5M by Andrew Laidlaw from 2011? I'm glad to see Guinness listing some MAME scores, and your score is very good, but not sure why they'd list the MAME score instead of the arcade one.
Andrew, any chance you could post a pic of the 2nd page of scores?
Also, what's with that Diaoh score? First, why that game? Second, that is not a very good score at all. RU has 2 scores higher than that, MARP has 12 scores higher, and the shmup forums list 74 scores higher (in fact every score listed is much higher). Why on Earth would you put that score on the short list for Guinness?!?!
I'm not trying to be a downer about this but I have to admit I'm still a little bitter about how this turned out for me. I suppose part of it is my fault for spamming the scoreboard with meaningless scores to pad my record count. I remember as a kid owning a Guiness Book of World Records and thinking how cool it would be to be in a book like that. So when I watched KOK and learned that I could achieve a World Record video game score and get my name published in a Guiness Book, I was excited and gamed my ass off trying to get my name published in the book. I submitted at least a few scores I think are worthy of recognition but TG decided that my score on Guitar Here Aerosmith Draw the Line on Easy setting was the one that should go in the book. Really? Why they would think publishing a score on Guitar Hero with Easy settings would be a good idea I have no idea but to add insult to injury, a couple of years later they decided they wouldn't even track Guitar Hero on Easy settings to if you go to TG to find my "World Record", it doesn't even exist anymore. This entire experience was such a buzz kill that I've never purchased the book after that first year and really don't care if my name ever appears in the thing again.
That High Way Race score is a perfect example of what's wrong with TG. They credit me with the "World Record" when all you have to do is go to MARP (and now RU) and see scores that are more than twice as much as mine. My score is average at best and they want to call it a "World Record". That takes away the prestige from the scores that actually deserve to be recognized.
big up Barra!!!!
well done.
to get in the book was one of my ambitions, but i feel the same as Coop. (or is it Mr. Moreland? hi dude!!)
i had the bombjack marathon and tourney records for a couple of years, was expecting that to be in there. but no, they wait until DYO beats it, then decide to publish it. curses.
now it don't seem to matter so much. me, Dick, and many more have been bypassed many a time, while we see duplicate names. duplicate names in a top 50?? it must be the guiness chaps fave games? who knows. in the gaming community, we all know what's what. we all know Dick Moreland is a master of many games, as are all the people on here. hell, me too!!! lol!!!
