I can't get this game to save and was wondering if someone else could test it out to figure if it's just me. Thanks.

Or maybe I'm not doing it right. Can I save after completing just one level? I've been playing the Gameboy Color version and haven't had a problem saving.

You save at Cranky's Shack, IIRC. In the first land there's one after the third level if I'm not mistaken.

Close, but it's Candy's Shack or something like that. The 1st one is right before the 1st boss.

You have to go to Candy's Save Pont. It's the only way to save (other than beating the game). This means you have to beat five stages before you can even save for the first time.

Which isn't too bad, considering the first few stages are rather easy. It's the later levels that start to get unfair at points (in my opinion) before being able to save.

If I remember right, after you find that first save spot can't you go back and play the first level over and over to build up men to make life easier?

You can. The first stage is pretty handy for that, there's the 1-up in the shack at the beginning, then a couple of them scattered in the level. Also, plenty of banana's to collect afterwards.

Ya, I just double checked and the GBC version let me save after the first level. I think it lets you save after each level but you start the new level with 5 lives no matter how many you ended the previous level with. I've only finished a few levels so maybe it changes.

Since it's portable the GBC version does save after every level. I guess they figured a gamer on the go can't always keep playing. You have to stop when you get to your destination.
