my search for a new server continues
since Seahawk cant afford our own server anymore, i've been searching for a public one we can all play on till we can come up with our own again. Sofar we have one at JMS.clanservers.com:25615 but im getting frustrated with the people on it,and the fact that they keep screwing with plugins and crashing the server. so now im hoping on other servers again to find something better, ill post more ip addresses if i find something good

Re: my search for a new server continues
I joined a server and the people seem really nice but it's strictly survival vanilla as far as I could tell. I only played for a couple hours though, too many other games distracting me. I'll try it again soon and let you guys know if it's cool.

Meh, no big deal. Still stuck on what to do with that cliff anyways. I'll always find something new, build something better.

Re: my search for a new server continues
Would you guys be interested in joining a mostly survival vanilla server if I found a good one? I say mostly because I've yet to find one that is really without any kind of mods. I don't care if there's some mods but I noticed that when these servers add mods they tend to get all silly with it and/or strip away the challenge. That's what makes it boring for me.

Re: my search for a new server continues
How much do you guys want your own server? Enough to have a donation drive for it?
I ask because prices have dropped. Our provider Host Altitude has been bought out by Nitrous Networks, and the prices have gone down about 25% there.
Alternatively, I got this offer in the email:
------
As you may or may not know, Host Altitude was acquired by Nitrous Networks LTD and will now be the main operator.
We understand that the closure of Host Altitude may have left a sour taste in some peoples mouths, but I assure you that we can make it up to you.
Because we are still in the process of sorting servers for Host Altitude, we would urge you to try hosting with our parent company, Nitrous Networks
We provide EU and US servers and are offering 50% off for all returning HA customers.
Nitrous Networks uses a custom control panel called NiTROPanel, read about it here.
To get 50% off, use the promo code "ha-rescue" on checkout
------
NN also has their own MC services, with even cheaper prices than Host Altitude (+ that 50% off offer).
Just throwing options out there. If people are willing to help out with the cost (except Tenser, since he already did), we could get this going again.

Re: my search for a new server continues
I can't help with any money for the time being. I'm not homeless or anything but money is tight and I'm not spending any of it on video games. Maybe in a few months I could justify it. What I lack in money I can make up for in activity and enthusiasm though. I miss our servers, we always have fun together and we've had no drama really.

Re: my search for a new server continues
I would donate if I could get a job.
Anyways, hopefully I'm getting a new comp soon. If I do, I'll try setting up my own server. Always keep my comp on, so times wouldn't be an issue.

Re: my search for a new server continues
Not to be some huge party pooper but I'm not interested in playing with just you guys. There's simply not enough of us to keep a server interesting. There's nothing more depressing than logging on to an empty server. Also once Red Power 3 is released half of my Minecraft time will be spent with Feed the Beast. I would prefer to just use someone else's server.

Re: my search for a new server continues
I understand that. It'd be nice to get some new blood on a RU server. I remember Guardian planned on making his server public but never got around to it, which was too bad.

Re: my search for a new server continues
We could publicize it? Might be a good way to get donations. I'd actually rather not start a new map either, this last map we had was by far the best. I will start a new one if that happens to be the decision, but I'd rather not.
Also, I got like 4 friends that play minecraft, could always get them to join up.

Re: my search for a new server continues
Making the server public, you would have to be very careful, since you don't want some random person coming in and destroying everything.

There's mods to protect things.
Could also just make spawn far away from all of us.

Re: my search for a new server continues
@UC- Part of the reason I love the game is the exploration. Building is cool too but no other game has a comparable free roam, above and below the surface.

Re: my search for a new server continues
So let's brainstorm about this. What do we all want from a server? Mainly I just want to be on a server with as many RU people as possible. I'd rather not have all kinds of fruity mods but I can live with it if it comes down to it.

Re: my search for a new server continues
the one me and brawl are playing on right now only has a lockette type thing and /home settings i've been playing it quite abit since it has an age restriction of 18, and is a bit under populated at times also its whitelisted so you have to get approved first

How do they check your age? How underpopulated are we talking about? How developed is the server?

Well there's usually only a few people on at any given time, the spawntown is quite large, and they have a rather nice and large nether hub
