Re: Retro Halloween Video Games
The clock tower had the best story for it's time. Sure graphics were better in different games/ systems at the time but they were descent. Why wasn't a movie made of this game or did I miss it?

Sweet Home. Because it was the first "scary" game I ever remember playing. Haha.
Sweet list though! Gotta go thru some of these games, that's for sure.

Re: Retro Halloween Video Games
For it's time, it's a pretty good Horror game. It's got to be one of the main inspirations for Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Etc.

I don't find it scary, but the first time some one in your party dies it can surprise you pretty bad.
The only pixelated game that gave me nightmares, and I've said it before but, is Clock Tower. Holy Hell.
EDIT: btw, why is The Immortal up there? Wasn't that a dungeon crawler?

Re: Retro Halloween Video Games
More like Alfred Hitchcock scary. You explore an old mansion. You never know when something will try to get you. Your only defense is to run and hide. You can't fight back. There's lots of built up suspense.
If the idea of a scary, suspenseful, 16 bit point and click game interests you then you should check it out. It is currently part of our monthly Game Club contest too.

Re: Retro Halloween Video Games
Wow, How old are you?. I guess I am really getting old now. He made movies mainly in the 50s but before and after that too. His movies were famous for being suspenseful cliffhangers. They were scary without anything actually scary happening.

According to your profile you're 14? If so doesn't that make you part of todays youth? Either way welcome to RU and glad to hear you know who Hitchcock is.

Thanks for the welcome, although while I don't use the forums often I've actually been a user of the site since its OnVGP days.

But I am a youth, well not so much compared to you, and I know who Alfed Hitchcock is. The Birds, Psycho, Vertico, Rear Window, that man was the master of horror.

I am actually right around your age and share the same taste in older things. I guess I just don't like where cinema, music and games are going these days.
