Re: NFL
I think my Iggles have a real good chance of taking the NFC East. They should have one of the best, if not the best, secondaries in the L. One of the main reasons they lost a lot of close games last season was their inability to force turnovers. Jim Johnson's defensive philosophy is aggressive and high risk. If that aggression and risk is not rewarded with big plays their defense is not right. Also, with the addition of DeSean Jackson our special teams game recieved a huge upgrade.
Not many people may agree with me, but I honestly believe that any team out of the NFC East could have done what the Giants did last season. Let's not forget about which team provided the Giants with the blueprint on how to beat the 'Pats...

Did you read my post?
I'm actually surprised that no one has said this yet, but I am going to say that Favre's return is going to be similar to Jordan's second comeback attempt with the Wizards. There is a lot of differences between the two, I won't argue that, but I do believe that what Favre had in Green Bay can not be replicated in Tampa Bay or anywhere else in the league for that matter.

Just heard it on the radio on my drive home. At the last minute Favre reneged on the Buccs and is now 100% officially a NY Jet.

Re: NFL
well they just got better considering they just landed a QB who can throw further then 30 yards. I'm rooting for the Eagles and Dolphins this year as i always have. the Dolphins are a very long shot but i like them to win 3-4 games next year better than last year. But the Eagles are going to be contending for the playoffs the year. Many people are forgeting that if McNabb is healthy then they're always conteders also we have a good running back in Westbrook and now a decent return game in Jackson plus we have the best DB core in the league with Lito Sheppard, Sheldon Brown, Brian Dawkins, and Asante Samuals.

Re: NFL
Someone who likes the Eagles has no place in judging another QB's ability to laser the ball. While accurate, McNabb has a tendency to throw lame ducks, always has since his days in 'Cuse.
Also, while McNabb is an incredible athlete, he doesn't fit the West Coast style offense you employ at all. He likes to hang on the ball far too long and he isn't nearly young nor healthy enough to be playing fun'n'gun behind the pocket.

Re: NFL
I am a die-hard Eagles fan. I bleed green. The first game that I can remember watching was the 1988 divisional playoff against the Bears. I was 6.
I've always been quick to defend McNabb when people criticize what are the obvious flaws in his game, which you touched on, Tenser. Normally, I would make all types of points about his playmaking ability and other good points about his game. However, I have a feeling that Kevin Kolb will start at least a couple of games this season. I think if McNabb struggles early Kolb will get a chance. Also, he is nowhere near as durable as he once was. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Re: NFL
I personally thought Mcnabb would never recover from back-to-back season-ending injuries, it has been right so far, though.
So guys think Pats will have a repeat performance this year? Will the Giants be ever so lucky and get back into the playoffs?

There is a reason they are called "obvious flaws". He was a great quarterback, I followed him through Syracuse. He just played for the wrong team. Not that there's anything wrong with Philly (except for stingy ownership and thick-headedness) its just he doesn't fit a west coast offense. Philly never bothered to change their offense to fit their playmaker so it wasn't his fault.
Seriously, if Philly had a pocket rocket and spent money over the last ten years I don't doubt you'd have one more trophy in your case. D-van would have been better off being a Skin or Card when he was younger.

I'd settle for just one Lombardi trophy...

I forgot that Philly failed at both attempts. Silly for me for thinking the eastern side of the Keystone State actually mattered. No wonder Pitt plays at Philly, after all, the only way you can have winners at Lincoln Field is by hosting them.
Five time champions I might add.

Ouch, that one was below the belt. The phrase I usually end up saying sometime in December or January is "maybe next year".
@Mignelli: I was actually saying that as far back as two seasons ago. He's one of the best quarterbacks in the league, but he always seems to come up short in the big games. He's signed through '13, but the Eagles have an option after the '09. If he goes belly up this season look for Kolb to become the starter and McNabb in a different uniform.

Re: NFL
My bold predicions?
1)It'll take time for the Jets to get used to Farve's style of play. I don't see them going to the playoffs... THIS YEAR.
2)The Patriots won't be able to pull 18-1 again live alone being undefeated. They missed their change last year.
3)The Giants will be in the playoffs again. Their beat receivers maybe gone, but their defense is still intact (correct me if I'm wrong).
4)I don't know about the Packers chances, but I do believe though that Arron Rogers will make it as an NFL QB. Give him time.

Yeah. But your not going nowhere near the playoffs. and i like Philly to beat down Pitt. considering that they have no offensive line now.

Last year's news my friend. The O-Line was only bad last year because of major injuries. Our starters are back and the Center has also been upgraded from Mahan to Hartwig. Add that with still the best defense in the league and some new skill players that have been drafted. To be honest, I see us competeing for a first round buy.
