I'm a Whovian, and always will be.
That being said,
Allons-y!
Hey! Does your name happen to be Alonso? That would be cool.
I have seen almost everything Who except for the most recent two episodes this season. Good to see more Whovians on RU. If I may be so bold, it BeWhooves the entire site.
Been hiding it (for no particular reason), but i be a Whovian too.
@Winnebagel: "BeWhooves" lol i had a big chuckle there.
We used to watch the old Doctor Who series with Tom Baker, along with Space 1999 and Time Tunnel lol... but can't really remember any episodes, too long ago... Of the new show, i've only missed the latest episode so far (S7e5), but will be viewing it online later this week.
I started watching with John Pertwee/3rd doctor. Got hooked and kept watching. Loved it so.... and then the hiatus came. then when the McGann film came out I was stoked! and then.... nothing. Then the 9th doctor, who I enjoyed so much (Wuv You Eccleston!) and the 10th, who is just sooooo endearing....
And while Matt Smith took some getting used to, I enjoy him now. But good-god that most recent episode broke my widdle heart...

It's nice to see more fans on RU. I remember a few years ago, it seemed like it was just me, and my family (Gamenguru and Bluej). The RU fanbase has grown! It's about timey-wimey.
By the way, I was gone from RU for awhile, so I didn't realize you had signed-up for RU. I remember you a bit from TG. Welcome to RU officially!
While we are on the Sci-Fi topic, props to you for the X-Files t-shirt in your photo. That is another of my all time favorite shows.
Why didn't you care for the last season? I questioned some parts of it, but overall it wasn't terrible.
I expect a lot from this episode because it will get a limited theatrical release, and only a really good episode deserves that.
I felt like they were trying to make each episode similar to a big budget Hollywood movie, but everything felt so fixated with grand music or visual shots while I didn't really find myself interested in anything that was going on. Particularly notorious examples would be the episodes on the asteroid colony and the one about the Russian submarine. Hell, other than the season premier, I really can't remember liking a single episode from that season.
I didn't take to the sidekick all that well, either. I know that they were trying to do something a little different from the "typical girl who's a little skeptical" model, which was good. After we moved into a couple episodes, however, I felt she was exactly the same as every other companion since Rose Tyler but this time with very minimal opinion. I have always believed that the Doctor is best complemented by characters who vocally challenge his self-righteousness as well as his typical mindset that he is the most capable person to handle every task, and this companion (Laura? I forget her name, unfortunately) did neither.
Another big issue for me was what I perceived as lack of good character chemistry with their elements. I thought the Doctor's little interior conflict with an cyborg version of himself was good, intriguing exploration, but I simply could not shake the feeling that the central characters were simply drifting through the plots until they met up with the antagonist of the episode. I believe that the inevitable onslaught of dialogue between Smith and Tennant will cure what ails me, and I, too, am looking forward to it.

So wait a minute, if I'm understanding this right; that short story shows transition from his 8th to the 9th incarnations, and implies that Eccleston, Tennant, and Smith have actually been the 10th, 11th, and 12th (respectively) this whole time?
When we're looking back, this is going to get confusing. :P

Yeah DN. It seems to imply that, but until we see how it all works out in the 50th special, nothing it certain. I'm more curious now than ever, though.

Just when I thought I was done with this show: I am most definitely hooked back in.
Oh man, I wish you wouldn't have said that. I scrolled back up to try to see which one you meant, but now I'm starting to think that 11, 10, and 8 all look like chickens. I kinda wanna throw a photoshop together and complete the imagery...
Lol yeah oops they do all look rather hawkish now that you say that. I was definitely talking about 10 though. He's even wearing something you'd see on a chicken man hybrid.
You know, I don't think I ever really remember liking any serials from Doctor's 5/6/7. Weren't those kind of all awkward and 80s? Maybe I'm speaking unfairly since I haven't watched too many.
When I was a wee lad I recall #4 being on PBS, because they played brit stuff. That opening is one of my earliest memories even though I never really watched the show.

That's a pretty trippy early memory. This would have been the late 1970s, probably?
Eitherway, I always liked this doctor because he traveled with people who frequently challenged his decisions and skill. I really don't like it when the sidekicks are marginally more stupid than he is and never contribute much.
