How are the humans? They are often weak and cliche in monster movies

Re: pacific rim
the humans in the movie were mostly miltary so they fought back but since the monsters were so big they could not fight them unless in the big massive robots .

Re: pacific rim
Were they cliches or had they distinct personalities?
Were the kaiju animal-like or more alien and weird?

Mikman, you ask a lot of weird questions. Why don't you just watch the movie?

Re: pacific rim
I'll wait until it's on DVD because that's cheaper.
Why's everyone obsessed with "My Little Pony" these days? It disturbs me somewhat.

It's a cult. The show uses severe brainwashing.
That's really neither here nor there though.

It's not child brides but there is an actual substitute. Once your in deep enough they get you to marry a cartoon horse, bro. True story.

My post brought it back to topic. Kinda. Besides, the thread will always come back to the topic as long as people have things to actually say about the topic.

Will this movie lead to a mini resurgence of monster movies? One can only hope.

The vast majority of monster movies are pretty dry or do the same thing over and over again. I think people will get pretty bored.
The only one I really liked all that much was Godzilla, and there was some real inspiration behind that one given that it had a lot of anti-nuke sentiment given the recent history of the country before the film.

I thought Cloverfield brought monster movies back into the mainstream?

Re: pacific rim
It kinda did, but it didn't repopularize Monster Movies as much as it
popularized the shaky cam.

Blair Witch started it, Cloverfield popularized it.

Re: pacific rim
The shaky cam is overused, at least to me.
I agree that most giant monster movies are cliche and repetitive but some are fairly good, and even some lesser ones are still enjoyable. Filmmakers should bring more new ideas to this genre.

You clearly haven't been watching the Sy-Fy original movies.
