Vista Help.

We all know vista is notorious for being retarded... I had to have a computer for school this year, So my dad bought me... Well the school re-imbersed them but we bought a 1 500 dollar computer to insure of no screw ups but vistas notorious screw up tradition continues...

the rules I had to follow by by the schools rules were this...

1. no self-internet usage except Wikipedia and a few other selcet sites, And of course I used the internet for school sites but rarely used that.(I followed this rule)
2. Offline Games are allowed [I only installed the two that wouldn't work on the windows 98(sims 2, RCT 3)]

I treated the PC like gold and rarely used it except for school daily.

And now I have run into many issues just in the last 2 months...

1. Power bar heats up like a freaking stove (I burned myself picking the stupid thing up)
2. It shuts off randomly to install updates (WTH!)
3. I ran 50 scans and apparently nothings wrong(something is definitely wrong)

And the latest issue that has pretty much destroyed it...

4. It will freeze whenever the internet is used or a disc is used( math requires work from a CD)

This is freaking ridiculous, High end vista, Internet was used for School internet and wikipedia and the occasional game that what, How long were each of these made before the pc let's see... Ahh...

Sims 2=2005

This computer was made in 2008 for... Anyways this computer was designed for game usage, Because it was to become the new games computer after I was done. Nothing downloaded but Speed it up Ultimate(today).

Did I do anything to wreck this computer or is it just typical of vista... Oh yeah no one ever used it but me since I have my own password.

Help please, I have two subjects left and one requires the math CD and one requires internet

I wish I could help you. My Vista works A-OK. When it wants to update a popup will alert me and I can choose to delay it for a set ammount of time.

I had run about 30 scans on the 30 of the pc's default scanners and I googled it up and found "regcure" that was suposedly free it found apparently 1486 problems then it pulls this crap, "Regcure automatically removed 3 errors on your computer to remove the othe 6 billion register now, Free! stupid faulty crap!

Try Spybot. it works wonderfully to clean up vista. it's also completely free. if that doesn't work, you can re-install vista through your disc. if THAT doesn't work, you can revert to XP professional.

try downloading and running "jkdefrag", my pc was moving at a snails pace and that fixed it right up.

I run Vista with no problems. I think it is the best OS. I think in the next 5 years Linux will be the best though. I use this before installing though. vLite - Windows Vista configuration tool

That is very expensive. You only need to spend that much money if you want to play the newest and biggest games. Just for homework you can easily get by with a low end computer. What kind of school gives you $1500 for a computer?

That should not be very hot. Maybe 5 degrees more than room temp but if it burns your hand then buy a new one. Do not plug your $1,500 computer into a faulty power surge protector.

This is my biggest pet peeve about Windows. They have come along way. W95 and 98 were horrible! No one besides me should ever have a say in when my computer shuts down.

Go to Control Panel and open Windows Update. Select Change Settings. Change it to Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them. You should install nearly every Windows Update right away.

What kind of scan?
Go to Trend Micro HouseCall - Free Online Virus and Spyware Scan - Trend Micro USA and run their scan.
I use Free Antivirus for Windows - Open source GPL virus scanner for my Antivirus but you might want something a little more full featured like Norton which probably came pre-installed on your computer. Find whatever antivirus you have installed and make sure it is upto date and running and run a full scan.

Make sure Windows Defender and Windows Firewall are running. Both are in Control Panel. In Defender click tools and make sure automatic scan is on and check for updated definitions before scanning is checked. Click scan and run a full scan.
And the latest issue that has pretty much destroyed it...

You can also install SpywareBlaster to block bad sites SpywareBlaster | Prevent spyware and malware. Free download. and SpyBot Search & Destroy to block bad sites and scan for installed malware The home of Spybot-S&D! But Windows Defender should be enough.

What do you mean by freeze? Do you know how much RAM and what the CPU is? What type of harddrive? Or do you know the model # for it?

What is Seed it up? Link? I bet it does more harm than good? In Control Panel go to Programs and Features and look at all the stuff that is installed. Brand new computers come with a lot of crap you do not want.

Most computer problems can be easily fixed by reinstalling the OS.

they gave us 250 in reimbursements for each online course I took.

It appears my virus protector "Windows Live onecare" was the source of the issue All it did was block other virus softwares so my dad got "macafee" and it works ehh... okay, It can do everthing except the 50 viruses I had hacked my computer memory and the disc drive doesn't really work.
It works better but still, I try to run the sims and I can't even get past the create a family part without it freezing and RCT3 if I click more than once in 5 seconds it hangs up.

I will pull out a system restore after school(june 5th.)

Microsoft actually discontinued support and updates for Onecare anyways. This was decided months ago, but I think it's planned for June. Your program probably wasn't keeping up with the times because of this fact.
