This is the same as previous year's 2012 Gaming Champ Contest and 2013 Gaming Champ Contest.

This contest will test everyone across multiple genres and systems to determine the all around best player of 2014.

The person that earns the most points will be crowned the best Retro Uprising gamer of 2014. Click this link to see the automatically updated scores and ranks.

Only your single best submitted score in each of the games listed below during 2014 PST ( GMT-8 ) will count.

7. Sports = Heavy Smash: Future Sports - Arcade/Coin-Op
8. Racing = Ironman Stewart's Super Off Road - Arcade/Coin-Op
9. Run 'N Gun = Metal Slug - Arcade/Coin-Op
10. Falling Block = Monster Slider - Arcade/Coin-Op
11. Run 'N Jump = Ninja Kid 2 - Arcade/Coin-Op
12. Golden Age Arcade = Pepper 2 - Arcade/Coin-Op
13. Beat'em Up = Undercover Cops - Coin Op

The Points:



"Percent" is Your Score divided by First Place's Score times 100 rounded to a whole number. In other words you will gain points just for increasing your score even if you can not beat the score above yours.

• 1st place = Percent + 100
• 2nd place = Percent + 90
• 3rd place = Percent + 80
• 4th place = Percent + 70
• 5th place = Percent + 60
• 6th place = Percent + 50
• 7th place = Percent + 40
• 8th place = Percent + 30
• 9th place = Percent + 20
• 10th place = Percent + 10
• 11th and beyond = Percent + 1

You gain 10 bonus points if your personal best score also clears (beats the game) the game.


To discourage players from waiting until the end of the year, there will be a small bonus for submitting early. You will gain 1 point for every month (30 days) that your best score ages. If you submit a new personal best the clock resets. A score submitted Jan 1 is worth 12 more points than a score set in December.

I can't seem to get Pepper II to start no matter what I do.

EDIT: Never mind, if I wait a minute or two after the attract screen starts then the credit will count it seems.

yes, pepper 2 is an exidy game...all of those have that slow startup.

other than pepper 2 and metal slug...I don't know any of these games...so discovering them will be interesting.

Really digging Gunbarich atm. Breakout style game. I just posted ~11.15m but it's very weak given the potential for monstrous multiplier bonuses with the right luck. I expect this score will be at least 40m+ by the end of the year.

Arkistas Ring, more like Revenge is very frustrating, used 5 credits on the last stage... All the way is easy up to Stage 30 and 31 being the last...

I can't seem to get Metal Slug to work in any way. (Link and Search does not work)

On both my arcade stick and PS3 controller it feels like commands aren't hitting on time (Tells guy to go down, instead keeps going left into a monster)

Was watching my top score on Super Off Road and it goes out of sync after the second race. I start racing backwards. Kind of funny to see.

How do you start a game in Pepper 2? I tried a couple of things and didn't work!

Are you using the sticks for movement? I found when using my ps3 controller on here I have to use the d-pad for movement, it works better.

Your stick is likely 8-way, and Pepper II is best played with a 4-way. Either use the d-pad on the PS3 controller or use the keyboard arrows.

As far as people having issues getting Pepper II to accept a credit/start, you have to wait a while for the attract screen to run a bit and then start. Use the 'end' key to speed up the loading and attract sequence a bit to get it to work.

Pad for PS3, stick for arcade. It felt better with pad though so I might switch to that for Pepper

I love the game selection this year! :-). I love Super Off Road! :-). I missed playing this game! :-). I used to be really good on it for Super Nintendo too! :-). The arcade one is really good too! :-). I hope to win something one day online! I never have before!
