RULES

The first person to submit proof of complete the current puck holder's challenge takes the badge.
Once you receive the badge you have one week to come up with a challenge of your own. If you want some advice feel free to PM me.
All challenges must be approved by me before they are submitted.
You must reasonably prove that you, yourself are able to accomplish the challenge you intend to give.
A challenge must be a test of gaming skill and/or knowledge with the games and/or answers present on this specific site.
When you've met all of these other criteria its your job to post your challenge in this thread and relate any other rules you might have.
If you do not accomplish this within one week of receiving the puck I will take the puck back, kick you in the jimmy, and mark you up for cheating.

I beat Tenser's Castlevania score and have the puck now.

The challenge I had planned was to set a decent Hexagon High Score of around 40 to 45 and have the first person to beat it take the puck.

I did better than I expected and beat my previous personal best score of 48.

The current Hexagon (http://www.retrouprising.com/arcade.php?do=play&gameid=8) high score is 56. If you can beat or tie me then you can have the puck.

Perfect score is 58. You can only miss two. If no one can get this in a week then I will make it easier.

Hello all, I have a challenge for you, problem is the powers that be (Kong) have not given the Chosen One (Tenser) the ability to work on save states.(It was a result of the breakdown with onVGP and the site change) Once all is well in our happy little kingdom, I will post my challenge.

In spirit of Super Bowl XLI, I thought I would make it football related. That being said, there is only 1 game that is worthy of this and that game is Tecmo Bowl. I could have used this years participants but then I would have to choose who I thought would win and then Cos would start to cry, then I would get arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, too much drama (I digress once again).

So as some of you know, my pathetic Raiders couldn't beat a group of girl scouts this year (Al Davis, please leave/die and let the team move on , PLEASE!!!!) Well, back in the days of Tecmo, when Los Angeles had 2 football teams and they were decent, the Raiders had a great running game, and a decent defense. My challenge to you is similar to my Double Dribble one. The game starts at the beginning of the second half against Denver (it was hard for me to decide which team I disliked more, SF or Denver, you see my choice), down by 19 (I can't believe the CPU missed an extra point, I also blocked one). So show me a movie of your come from behind victory without game genie codes (they're disabled anyway) and the badge is yours. This in my opinion is a lot easier than the Double Dribble Challenge so I do not expect to keep the badge for long. This Tecmo is a little different, the rosters were changed from the original so you do not have Marcus Allen as your second RB and Tim Brown isn't even on the roster (those FOOLS!!)

FINALLY. I beat Denver and i thnik i did very good. I WON 30 -19 Although i could've got 34. I got 21 in the first half and i then i was near the scoring line. But i then had to do a field goal because i didn't want to risk it.

Well, since I got the puck, I guess I need to come up with something for you to take it away from me. As promised, no sports challenge (this time:mrgreen:).

I came across this game when I remembered playing a similar game for my GameBoy called Gargoyle's Quest, funny enough, the game is called Gargoyle's Quest 2.

The story is about a demon named Firebrand (remember that pain in the back side red demon from Ghosts N Goblins, same pain, except you get to control him) and his quest to save the ghoul realm. I got you through the tough stuff so all you have to do is defeat King Breager to take the puck away from me. Just create a movie for everyone to see and it's yours. EXTRA BONUS: If you manage to complete the challenge WITHOUT losing a heart, I'll give you 500 points.

I welcome you gamers to one of the most brutally conceived levels in NES History. Many a gamer has snatched him or herself bald headed over this castle, especially before the days of the internet. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to lay waste to the castle. You will need to clear both levels of Thelenea Castle including the bosses, thus completing the game.

In your possession I have generously supplied you with the most powerful weapon. The greatest spell. A full life and spell meter. And count 'em, three lives! Don't even think about continuing because you'll start off with the weakest weapon afterwards and lose all your hard earned points!

You'll need to submit a keystroke video of your little accomplishment. It must all be in one video, no submitting it in different parts!!

An interesting thing happens when you try to use Game Genie codes with key stroke movies. The film gets all buggy.

Nice try creating a save state from the beginning of the level, then recording a keystroke of that one instead. Prove me wrong.

You're right wanman. I went through and recorded a keystroke and my movie was out of sync as well. The fact is, Game Genie does make keystrokes go out of sync as well. (Back on onVGP we caught a couple people cheating that way.) Kong and I would have both lost the farm on this bet. You have my deepest apology good sir.

I noticed that i can kill the black dragon with a simple stratagy.
Get out fireballs, hit dragon with full power and then fire two fireballs then hit it again with full power. It would be red. Wait till it opens its heart and smash with full power and then hit it agian with 3 -5 more quick strikes.

Your mission is to get in and collect has many reinforcements as possible as you defeat the Red Falcon. You can start with 10 guys at your back if you pay attention!

Take a screen shot after you have beaten the game as you restart at level 1 with your number of lives remaining shown on the screen. The game will restart when you press start after the credits roll and the Konami logo comes on the screen. See my example-

General Hobbes' Training for Victory.
You may have to train for this one, that means play the game through a couple of times, get to know the bosses, where enemies pop up from, what weapons appear and so forth.

If you have not done so hop over to gamefaqs for a faq/walkthrough on the game for intel.

Once you have an idea about the game you could play it through with save stats to see how many times you can die to beat my challenge. Can you continue from a stage and still end up with over 15 lives? That way you can have a plan for attack. Then you can go do a real run at the challenge.

Oh and get the spread shot, keep the spread shot at all costs....Except for 1 part where I like the flamethrower makes the game so much easier.....;)

It has been a while so I will think about another challenge. But people can still beat this one if they tried a little.

I just want to beat the game. I'm not great at shooters, but I still try. Even with all the continues, I only got to level 6. But I have been trying. Even when this thread was slow.

@hobbes i know you can do better at my calculations when i was playing through the game in full mode with save states i saw where i died and over came ... i died 4 times in the game at the same spots and generated 6 lives through the corse of the games with a score of 200k so at that pace i will earn more lives than i loose through the play through and only have to beat it 5 times... its do able i just have to get time ... and i just want to take the score from you once... thats all...

im assuming it really does not have to be area 1 that you get the 15 lives picture on? you just have to have 15 lives right so if i completed the game with 14 lives i could keep playing till i got the 15 on area 2 right... you would still be able to see i completed the game because of the score and also the 15 lives

The hard part is thinking of a challenge once you get the puck.

It should be hard, but not impossible, some-what fun, original ideas are nice, ie different than beat my score, and then you have to make sure that you can do it...

The one I had before was having people play Mega Man 2 where you have to fight all the bosses again, only using your blaster.
Tenser had us beat the final guy on Dragon Warrior at a really low level, using save stats.
Wanman had us beat his Bayou Billy score.
Sabby had us do some odd sports things.

I'll set one up, it will take a little time, and yes, no save states. When I did it I wanted a movie, but the movie didn't work.

ugh im not going to get much time to play tonight though i did just get to play for 15 mins and hone down the first few levels...

area 1 is a walk in the park now
area 2 sucks and i hate the top down parts i used to have trouble with the 2 gun turrets near the end of the level but i found a way to walk past them so easy peasy now
area 3 is fine i just need to remember to duck ;D and the metal walker is easy with the spread shot
the fortress wall is what gets me every time i lose atleast 2 lives here ... but on my last play through i found where to stand so now i just need to look up shoot and when they orbs move out jump at the right time not to hit the bottom orb but miss the bullets so no more moving...

more to come but now i have masterd area 1-3 with out dieing..area 4 i can get through and area 5 i can do as well as long as i dont rush... so hobbes im comming for your puck... and once i found a few hours your high score as well... that is unless you play yourself and make your highscore insane then i wont even try...

I always seem to lose a life in area 1, I get shot in the back.
Then on the last top down level, where those things come out of the tubes, yeah, hard.

You'd think that betting the game 5 times or so would be enough, *sigh* as if I didn't have enough to do.

the hardest part of area 1 for me is right at the end thier is a red guy in the trench right before the boss and when you walk into the screen he always gets a shot off so i have to duck to avoid it then the guys come down from the door and i have 1 of 2 choices to make 1 stay ducked and let them jump ontop of me or stand up to get hit...[br]Posted on: April 24, 2008, 10:38:52 PM________________________________________________ _dang it i had this... its been a while since i played area 8 so i forgot about the fast shooting cannon guys so i died thier loosing my spread shot... so i had to go throught the level with the fire gun and that sucked so right now with losing that life i had 16 now i have 15... then i get to the boss and i lose 1 life because of the fire gun i suck with it i could not hit the spores... so now im down to 14 so i spent 2 more lives trying to find the best way to kill him ...

and apparently its just run up against his legs holding diagnal up you will kill most of his spores as they shoot out and hit his eye and also his eye beam cant hit you...

This challenge isn't that difficult, why should I swoop in and take that from a member like I had to previously. This contest is designed to let members post up there unique ideas for challenges that are difficult but not nearly impossible.

Again, there's no fun in this badge just sitting under Hobbes' avatar for a year, but in my judgement there's no real difficulty in taking this besides a lack of stick-to-it-ness. If I felt I needed to step in, I would have. That being said, I'm very glad to see someone interested in this contest again.

Tenser probably just doesn't want to come up with a challenge. He had it a while back. Hobbes can make it harder so it targets a different audience. To get the puck and use it effectively, you almost need to pick a challenge before you start trying to beat the current one.

now i know what you are thinking to your self "I beat this game back in the 80's this will be a piece of cake" and yes it will be easy. But I have some rules for you to fallow while you play the game.

1.Save states WILL be allowed (you can say thank you)
2.Time shift buffer WILL be allowed (you can say thank you again)

with that in mind you should be saying well this will be easy.

but you must collect a few things in the process of beating the game. I have made examples of everything you must do to get this puck so here they are in the order that i did them but you can do them in any order you want

1. The main mission in this puck is to get a level 8 sword a level 8 magic a level 8 life and also all 8 magic bars as well as all 8 health bars before you beat the game (basically max out all your stats then beat the game)

2. Defeat the Brown Axe Thrower that guards the hammer with out getting hit. Then grab the hammer(instead of just jumping over him)

What thats not enough for you... fine what i will also do is keep the person that payed me name confidential so no one knows your getting a bonus tip... what still not enough... fine i will take the 1000 points that i get and add that to the bonus total so if i get 3 people that pay me 1000 points if you win the bonus challenge you will get 6000 points... WHAT still not enough... fine if someone completes the puck and does not meat the criteria for the bonus then i will refund your 1000 points... so you lose nothing.

Last Area, when the ceiling drops down on you, and those guys attack you from all angles, the fire shoe works better, then the spread shot.


Oh and since i don't want the puck back right away, people you have about a month to do this before I just go ahead and beat it. That should give you enough time.

It's really harder to get the hammer at a low level.

yes it is this should acctually be a really easy challange since im allowing save states it took me about 5-6 hours total to beat it not much challange everything i listed you would probably do in the course of a normal game anyways.

now I know what you are thinking to your self "I beat this game back in the 80's this will be a piece of cake" and yes it will be easy. But I have some rules for you to fallow while you play the game.

1.Save states WILL be allowed (you can say thank you)
2.Time shift buffer WILL be allowed (you can say thank you again)

with that in mind you should be saying well this will be easy.

but you must collect a few things in the process of beating the game. I have made examples of everything you must do to get this puck so here they are in the order that I did them but you can do them in any order you want

1. The main mission in this puck is to get a level 8 sword a level 8 magic a level 8 life and also all 8 magic bars as well as all 8 health bars before you beat the game (basically max out all your stats then beat the game)

2. Defeat the Brown Axe Thrower that guards the hammer with out getting hit. Then grab the hammer(instead of just jumping over him)

well it will give you an edge over the competitors knowing where to save precious time. You have to get max stats anyways so you mine as well make things easier for you and pick up some extra points.

What that’s not enough for you... fine what I will also do is keep the person that paid me name confidential so no one knows your getting a bonus tip... what still not enough... fine I will take the 1000 points that I get and add that to the bonus total so if I get 3 people that pay me 1000 points if you win the bonus challenge you will get 6000 points... WHAT still not enough... fine if someone completes the puck and does not meat the criteria for the bonus then I will refund your 1000 points... so you lose nothing.

In Rocky and Bullwinkle style I present a new puck challenge. I thought about bringing back that hellish game Bases Loaded 3, but that would be mean plus not very fun. The game my challenge stems from the game Bad News Baseball for NES. To claim the puck from my grasp you must:

1. Play a full nine (9) inning game without having a scoreless inning. This will take some planning since this has the 10-run rule limit. I'll be nice and say you don't have to pitch a shutout but you can not let the other team score 3 or more runs. Here is a screen shot for all you visual peoples...

You will need to select Java Score Mode (which wasn't available until just now) and press T when you get to the right screen.

Ok so even though I do not have the puck yet I will post my challenge.

Recently there have been a ton of internet listings that have whined about the NES version of Battletoads (http://retrouprising.com/game-menu/game/398/), claiming it is the hardest game ever.

I disagree. In the last team contest the Genesis version of Battletoads (which is more or less the same) was assigned, and was beaten by 3 of 4 teams.

So let's assign the one Battletoads game no one has played, or beaten.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to beat stage 3 of the arcade version of BattleToads (http://retrouprising.com/game-menu/game/5043/). By the time you are able to achieve this you will likely disagree with the internet hype, as I do =).

The required screenshot will be satisfy one of the following:
A) Shows the score at the end of level 3, stating that "(Name) is the duke of destruction!".
B) Shows any gameplay screen afterwards, meaning you tried to get past level 4 =P.
