Rubber (2010) - IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1612774/)

It's about an evil tire that rolls around and vibrates and blows up people's minds. Terrible movie. By far the worst movie I have ever seen. If you go into it with a really good mood and want to laugh at a terrible movie, this is the one you want to see.

At the risk of sounding cliche, it's gotta be the room. I've seen 80's pornos with better directing/writing/production values.

"They," aka "Invasion from Inner Earth," and "Beast of Yucca Flats" are probably what worst movies I ever saw. People often refer to more popular movies on these lists, but many smaller, more obscure ones from older times are just horrible. Even "Plan 9" was better than those two. "Yucca Flats" technically had no actual acting!

The Room is hard to beat. It was meant to be this great drama but the director/writer/producer/creepy ugly european guy didn't realize how mentally ill he is. Now he pretends it was meant to be a dark comedy so he can cash in on it and get some fame.

I don't really watch movies much.

I suppose I should say that the circumstances for viewing the film matter. If I see Sharknado on SyFy (really anything on SyFy) I'm not exactly expecting a masterpiece. In fact I can have a good time laughing at a badly produced movie, which makes it not so bad in the end. Tenser streamed The Wizard before and it was all right because of that.

While watching Transformers 2 in the theater I could do nothing but cringe at every terrible sexual innuendo (there were A LOT), every crappy joke, the general horribleness of the entire plot. I couldn't leave because I was watching with family.

Maybe I more meant "Worst movie experience of all time"? Because that certainly was it for me.

This reminds me of those topics on sites like Xbox.com or Gamefaqs where people ask what the worst game ever is. People will say stuff like COD or Minecraft because they either wanna be edgy or they have only played a handful of games. It rustles my jimmies something fierce.

@SH- Of course the plot and dialogue are gonna be trash but you can't deny it was a good looking movie with some nice effects. If you thought about it some more I bet you can find something unwatchable in your brain that you can't unsee.

@DN- Yes that was a complete bastardization but it wasn't that bad to watch. I mean really, you love the original Star Wars movies and don't think they're corny and outdated so your taste is questionable to begin with. Trust me, DD wasn't the worst you've seen.

SH:

Maybe I more meant "Worst movie experience of all time"?Well then, that's easy:

Me: 8 years old, at the Drive - In theater with the parents.
Earlier that day, they had bought me a balsa wood airplane {anyone remember those?} which I had with me in the backseat.

At some point during the movie {Moonraker} I must have accidentally dropped my airplane into my popcorn without realizing it.

AS I went to eat some more of that up - until - then delicious popcorn, there was a TASTE , a very, very bad taste that I immediately in my 8 year old brain assumed was poison!
{maybe the premise of the movie being a plot to poison everyone on Earth while the perpetrators hid safely up in orbit had something to do with it?}

I threw a Royal fit, spitting and sputtering and screaming at my parents that I was probably going to die {just like the people in the movie!} from the terrible whateveritwas on my popcorn.
They, of course, knew it probably wasn't poison and after pointing out that it was the balsa wood of my airplane proceeded to give me heck for having overreacted.

{In my own defense I must say that there were a lot of child - killers running around back then, most notably the 'Beast of B.C.' Clifford Olson - which they warned us kids about in school, by the way, so there was some cause for paranoia.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clifford_Olson

Besides that, balsa wood tastes awful and could easily be mistaken for poison to someone who did not know}

I directly stated that it wasn't the worst movie I had ever seen. It just came to mind and I have less reason to appreciate it than I do films that were simply rushed or otherwise not done well. I didn't feel like it was worth the time investment to seriously recall the worst movie I've ever seen, but seeing as you seem personally affected by this I'll reconsider and get back to you.

Has anyone ever seen Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter? It's one of those intentionally awful movies that's great to watch because it's a carefully manufactured type of terrible. I shall explain Why. So when I was like, 8, 9, 10 or something, my sisters saw this on the TV. They switched to the channel, since they saw this when they were little and therefore loved it. Sometimes movies end up being good after a bitter first hour. Imo a recent example is the Tom Cruise film "Oblivion".

There's a plethora of notoriously bad films originating in Turkey in the 70s and 80s. I haven't watched any, but I've seen clips and they're pretty abysmal.

Dudebro

Not parody, just light hearted fun. It's pretty obvious that they weren't going for serious if you watch that clip you posted.

Yes intentionally can count as bad, if it's done badly. A good example are those god awful "comedies" like Date Movie. I went into that cold without any bias and it didn't make me laugh once, I actually felt embarrassed for the people in the movie.

The whole new Star Wars Trilogy.

Lucas destroyed the greatest movie trilogy ever... with this braindead, computerized Muppet Show. Plus the new movies had the worst dialogue ever.

Dudebro
01-12-2014, 12:39 PM
I agree the new trilogy was less than awesome but I think it was mainly because of a few characters and their dialogue. Annakin Skywalker was cringe worthy in every scene he was in. Jar Jar was just terrible. Even Natalie Portman was bad I thought, which is very unusual for her.

On the flip side of that I think there were some good performances. Christopher Lee as Dooku was awesome for example. Then again he could read a phonebook and I'd watch it. Also it had some great visuals.

I mainly replied because of your comment about Star Wars being the best movie trilogy ever made. What? There's plot holes and cheesiness throughout and it does not stand the test of time very well. There's also that whole thing where Luke and Leia are about to become lovers and then George Lucas decided he wanted to make more money so he changed the story and made them siblings.

It's hard to be objective because I grew up with those movies. And I was what... 10-12 years old. It's mostly just nostalgia of course.

But still... I think the father and son plot was unique in the original trilogy... and that end battle in the Cloud City in ESB was probably the best scene in movie history.

The old trilogy had really special "atmosphere". There was nothing left of that in the new trilogy. And the guy who played Anakin was the worst choice ever. He had charisma of a damp rag. :D

Yeah... Christopher Lee and Ian McDirmid are amazing. But even they couldn't save it.

I realize why some may dislike the new Hobbit films, and they don't truly compare to LOTR on the same level, but I enjoyed them, even if I question that the filmmakers made a trilogy instead of a dilogy*, which I could more easily believe. The other dwarves didn't majorly play into the plot, so that one distinguish them isn't essential.

Dudebro
01-14-2014, 01:08 PM
It's not about comparison really it's about them spreading out a tiny book to fit the same length as LOTR movies which came from a big novel and taking huge liberties with the story. He usually writes, produces, and stars in them too, so he gets more money than if he just acted in it.

And if that wasn't enough he owns Happy Madison productions that produces most of the ones he's a producer on. And when he's not producer, he may still get his company to be the production company or production company on movies he's not even in.

Because they are idiots.
That's what they call us, yes.
But I think there are a few reasons people go to see movies:

1. The movie experience: big screen, big sound, popcorn, munchies, and maybe a date?:kissed:

2. People get bored of their everyday lives, and seeing a movie provides them with experiences they normally would not have otherwise; an 'escape' from the norm, if only for a short time.

Also, because most of us must remain in the 'closed' business mode of thinking much of the time, a lot of people simply don't {and can't} have good enough imaginations to 'escape' from that closed mode on their own, and movies provide that escape for them.

3. Unfortunately, with movies as with too many other things, it's BUYER BEWARE!
All we have to protect us are third - person accounts and movie 'reviews', and even so it must be understood that those peoples' tastes may be different than our own.

ON TOPIC:

I got some DVD's a while back {anyone remember those?}

One of them stars Danny Trejo, the guy from 'Machete' {and oddly enough the same guy who played 'Uncle Machete' from Spy Kids} in a movie called Rise of the Zombies .. and it's BAD.

You guys are obviously taking the movie way to seriously. What's next, a scathing review of Sharknado?

Well since when are there guidelines for what qualifies as a bad movie? This is supposed to be a catch all isn't it?

I'm just saying that made for SyFy movies aren't on the same level as a movie that is meant for theaters. They're intentionally bad and super corny.

Do you notice, though, that these bad Syfy and Asylum films, and other similar films, seemingly make much effort so that they have as many cliches as possible? I suppose that it's part of the whole "bad movie experience," but cliches usually result not from effort but the lack thereof.

To me, though, these "sci-fi" movies aren't as bad as many of the so-called comedies which pretend that they're good. Most are terrible and unwatchable.

Yeah SyFy is enthusiastically jumping the shark with all their movies. When one craptacular one does well they rush out another similar one to capitalize on it. I try to give them the benefit of the doubt because I'm a big fan of stories but they're usually so awful and boring I can't make it through them.

Back on the point about Adam Sandler being pretty unfunny recently. I read that he's up for a record amount of Razzie nominations and he might win worst actor for a third year in a row. Now that's funny.

Wouldn't surprise me, He deserves a razzie with all these crap films he's been releasing lately. " That's My Boy " was only half decent, I think the most compelling film that he has done lately has had to have been "Reign On Me "

One of my favorite movies, so bad it's good:

Revenge of Dr. X
* This movie is Public Domain, so enjoy!

The Revenge Of Dr X - YouTube

In case you don't want to watch it there are several things about this movie which are so odd as to captivate my attention.
Most importantly is how the 'Doctor' isn't named Dr. X, but is in fact called Dr. Breggan from the very first scene.

It stands my hair on end thinking about the scene where Dr. Breggan is showing Noroko the Venus Flytrap = what he says is absolutely true, and may have you looking at plants in an entirely different way ..
They are AWARE! :tremble:

Dr. Breggan combines a Venus Flytrap with the Japanese aquatic plant Venus Vesiculosa {may be fictional plant} and the result is a humanoid looking plant which feeds on just about anything!

http://www.retrouprising.com/img/2014_01/3194.jpg

At some point during the plant's development, Dr. Breggan claims to have scratched his hand, and begins wearing a leather mitt to 'protect it'.

However, during a scene where you can see the doctor's leather mitt he reaches into a cage and grabs a mouse, which he places in the mitt .. and the mouse screams then falls suddenly silent .. which leads me to believe that he was becoming in some part like the plant, but for some strange reason there is no further suggestion of him changing .. :\

Anyhow, it's 1970's B - movie horror with a Japanese - movie monster feel, cheesy music, inconsistent storyline, and even a character who looks and acts like Ygor!
Gotta love it.

BUT WAIT, there's more!

You know the 'SAW' series of movies?
I think this was the origin, featuring Vincent Price:

The Abominable Dr. Phibes!

The Abominable Dr. Phibes (1971) - YouTube

Not exactly the worst movie, I was just thinking of it and comparing Dr. Phibes to Jigsaw, in his various incarnations.

I just watched one of the worst movies I've ever seen, San Andreas Quake (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4547120/). I learned a new word. Mockbuster (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mockbuster). I thought I was watching, "San Andreas", which probably isn't much better.

If you like getting drunk and making fun of movies then SAQ is actually worth a watch. Snowpiercer is also a horrible movie that's fun to play Mystery Science Theater to.

At the risk of sounding cliche, it's gotta be the room. I've seen 80's pornos with better directing/writing/production values.

The Room IS the worst movie ever, objectively. It doesn't have one redeeming quality. It actually makes me uncomfortable in its horrendousness. It's like the opposite of seeing something that makes you believe the world might be alright after all.

A few movies that everyone seems to love, but I don't like, not the worst ever but I thought they sucked:

The Big Lebowski
Trainspotting
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

I don't know, I just don't get them.

Conversely, these are three of my favorite movies of all time.

killer klowns from outer space..... was supposed to be a horror movie, its so bad it actually becomes comedy

Also, Killer Klowns is awesome. It's a perfect example of how to do a horror/comedy well - a difficult feat to pull off.

By overall quality, Birdemic: Shock and Terror is the worst movie I've seen. However, I do take enjoyment out of its sheer ineptitude at every turn. The same goes for Puma Man, The Room, Manos: The Hands of Fate, Troll 2, Plan 9 From Outer Space, Robot Monster, and many others.

As for my least favorite movie, it's Monster-A-Go-Go, by a long shot. I really don't like 47 Ronin, Armageddon, R.O.T.O.R., and The Castle of Fu Manchu, but none of those come close to the hatred I hold for Monster-A-Go-Go. First off, it's boring as shit. Second, everyone you meet in the first half of the movie gets thrown out in the second half(This is because it was an unfinished movie that was picked up and completed by another director three years later, when they couldn't get the original actors back). Third, the scene where they're preparing to take down the monster is so dragged out that I'm convinced it took at least twenty minutes. Finally, the ending is probably the worst I've ever seen. Fuck that movie.

That movie gets more beatings than a punching bag at a {insert appropriate location here}.

Here's an idea: :snicker:

A punching bag with Tommy Wiseau's face on it at select screenings of The Room; mount it on a sturdy pole with 4 pictures of him printed all around so several people can have a go at him at once on their way in / out of the show.

Make it like the old style 'test your strength' game you used to see at Exhibitions, Fairs, Midway Arcades, etc. so when people give it a good hard punch in the face it activates a hammer which travels up the center of the pole to ring a bell at the top.

As far as TV movies go, probably any monster/animal movie. Pteracuda, Sharktapus, Whale Wolf, or what ever animals the execs at SyFy feel like crossing and trying to shove down our throats. Sharknado was bad because it was a spoof of a monster movie, trying to be real, trying to be a spoof. Do we really need 4 (God help us if there is 5) of these awful excuses for movies?

As far as the big screen goes, Spy Kids(Any), Alvin and the Chipmunks (Can't believe they made 3 of these), Smurfs, House of the Dead. Makes me wonder if there are people that actually tell these people not to make some films because it doesn't seem like it.

I know this makes me an uncultured swine, but Rocky Horror for me. I like weird, unique, creative stuff, but this movie for me is just the worst. I can even make it through a few musicals - that's not the issue. I just don't get the cult following. I've tried multiple times. I feel like I'm defective or something, but I think it SUCKS.

And I actually liked Spy Kids 2, but then again, my kids were really into it at the time. Sharknado 3 was palatable only because it had a ton of hometown personalities (DC area). SyFy was such a great idea when it was launched, and it just got destroyed.

Yeah that movie was a big let down. I already don't like Superman but I felt like they took a decent superman(Man of Steel was ok) and ruined him completely. Batfleck was unconvincing and uncool. Wonder Woman was alright though. Pretty hot too.

I recently saw Trolls 2. I can't put it on the worst movies ever list. Main reason is I felt it was a horror movie made for 10 year olds. Sort of like a crummy Goosebumps movie.

I only made it halfway through, I didn't get to see Wonder Woman. I jumped outta my seat when she made an appearance in the trailer. To me, it was just a terrible version of a Tom Clancy style film. There was nothing at all Super Hero about it, and soooo long and drawn out between anything of interest happening, I felt like I had watched 3 hours of it. And yeah, Affleck was a poor choice.

Wonder Woman has a small part but she gets a bunch of good hits on the bad guy and she barely gets hurt. Superman manages to get tossed around like a punk and distracted by his stupid girlfriend. Batman is out of place and runs a lot. It didn't seem well thought out. I was kinda surprised because Afleck is supposed to be a big fan.

Oh and Lex was cringeworthy 99% of the time.

Slime Slayer

@steven- It's basically a reboot and expansion of superman movies. The first half or so is build up. The last act has a long, dramatic fight. Unfortunately the bad guy is uninspired and shallow.

@PP1969GR- I think there is a topic about that but if not feel free to make it.
