Re: Halo 3 ODST
I've only played firefight mode at a friends, and it was painfully easy(on normal of course), even though I had to remember the controls.

Re: Halo 3 ODST
What's firefight like? I read it's similar to the Horde mode on Gears 2 where you play coop versus waves of enemies, is that right? If so I might consider getting this game.

Re: Halo 3 ODST
Well thanks for that detailed description. Would you mind elaborating a little? How many players, how many rounds, how many enemies, ect?

Aww only two player, you sure? Are you able to set up defensive positions or are you constantly running around killing?

Apparently skulls have effects in firefight too.
I don't play the game, my brother does, so I wouldn't know.

Re: Halo 3 ODST
it is 4 player over xbox live, yes, increasing difficulty in waves.
the biggest difference between gears and halo is since there is no revival, the group shares a pool of lives which resets with each wave. tougher than gears horde mode in my opinion

Re: Halo 3 ODST
How is that tougher? In Horde mode if you die, you die no extra lives. If your talking about the first aid thing then that doesn't count, on the high levels the monsters finish you quick anyways.
I'm not liking the sound of lives resetting. One of the best things about the Horde was the challenge. Otherwise it's just a shooting gallery and that's boring.

Re: Halo 3 ODST
so, i misspoke, the difficulty of eliminating the enemies is harder than gears.
you only get a health recharge if you find a medkit, as opposed to gears where you regain health while in cover. in gears, you still come back to life after a wave, not to mention, you can theoretically die countless times, just as long as you aren't curb stomped, a teammate can revive you. the pool of lives is really not a significant number, something like 2 or 3 for a group of 4. so if one of your teammates sucks, then you basically have no chance of a revival.

Re: Halo 3 ODST
Well I bought this game tonight and I'm about to start playing it soon. Everything I hear leads me to believe the firefight mode is awesome and that's the main reason I wanted it. I'm also happy to get Halo3 with all the DLC maps I never wanted to pay for separately.
So who here has ODST and a Live gold account?

Re: Halo 3 ODST
Good to know. My brothers are into this too so I should have a steady 3 people and you'd be the fourth.

I just loaded the game up and for some reason I can't join firefight mode with my brother(says not connected to Xboxlive even though I clearly am). Is there something I'm supposed to do first?

Campaign is painfully short, but rather fun. it's not as stealthy as advertised, but if your carefull, you can beat the game without even getting seen. (or so i've heard, i've gotten into one or two fights in the first 2 levels.)

Re: Halo 3 ODST
So I unplugged my router and was able to join parties, must be the router settings for some reason even though nothings changed.
I played for many hours last night and made it pretty far in Firefight. It's still new to me but we got 750k points for the team and I got about 350k for myself, is that good? Btw normal difficultly is too easy. I had to go to bed and so I had to kill myself over and over to lose all the lives we gathered. I think next time we'll have to try legendary since our halo skills are so sharp.

Re: Halo 3 ODST
Not impressed with ODST. The story was cliche' and horrific. Firefight was its only redeeming quality.
Firefight should be DLC for ten bucks, waste the rest of the game.

Re: Halo 3 ODST
One good thing for me is the Halo3 Multiplayer w/all the maps. I'd love to play more Firefight but the lack of matchmaking makes it almost impossible.

Re: Halo 3 ODST
That's true. I think they may be fixing that soon.
I'm guessing they just had to experiment somewhat before they threw it on the servers.
