3D Dot Game Heroes
Do you miss the old overhead style of 8-bit RPG games like The Legend of Zelda? Well this game is for you.
3D Dot Game Heroes is a throwback to the old 8-bit RPG games of yesterday. The game was made by From Software and published by Atlus, the people behind such games as Demon's Souls, Tenchu, and Armored Core.
Plot
Long ago the Kingdom of Dotnia was under attack by Dark Lord Onyx, who brought terror to the land. Using 7 orbs, the ancients sealed him away and peace ruled the land...until now. Dark Bishop Fuelle has stolen one of the orbs and is trying to resurrect Onyx. It is your job to collect the other 6 orbs and defeat Fuelle.
Gameplay
The game is basically an homage to Legend of Zelda and other 8-bit RPG's. Everything is in an overhead perspective. You wander around, find the dungeons and defeat the puzzles inside to reach the boss and collect the orbs. You will find new items to help along your way and to access new areas.
The sword has special powers where you are at full health. Through upgrades you can make it shoot beams, or increase it's length and width until it hits nearly everything on the screen!
Overall
Overall it's a great game. Any fans of old school RPG's will love it because it's like a walk down memory lane, but now in HD. Controls are easy to use, there are mini games, and even tower defense maps as well to help waste your time so you can get more weapons.
-More than one character option, as well as the ability to create your own character.
-References to other games

Re: 3D Dot Game Heroes
Well it's too bad it's an exclusive, I'll never get to play it. I'm so tired of that they should at least come out for PC too so more people can buy it. Also it's not a true overhead view it's isometric.
Looks like a great game though. But it does look like it's pretty much exactly like Zelda games.

It's not isometric, isometric is like Sim City, Populous, Solstice etc., there is no perspective at all.

Re: 3D Dot Game Heroes
I dunno, other games with the same exact camera have been called isometric from what I've seen. I've never seen one referred to as fixed camera.

Re: 3D Dot Game Heroes
It's isometric. See, same basic angle as this:
Fixed would be like early Resident Evil.

Re: 3D Dot Game Heroes
Ugh... isometric means no perspective, see how stuff get smaller as it gets further into the background in your example DM, that is perspective, it is NOT Isometric. As I said above, Sim City is isometric, objects do NOT receed into the background. Resident Evil would be concidered fixed yes, but the term is'nt exclusive to pre-rendeed bitmap backgrounds, here is a list of games with a fixed camera: List of Fixed Camera Games - Giant Bomb

Oh, okay. Sorry I made a mistake operating on what information I had. Nowhere on that list did I see 3D Dot Game Heroes, so, yeah. You're wrong on that.

If you really think that that list I gave you supposed to be a complete list of every game with a fixed camera than you are a moron. I don't think you are that dumb though, and I'm assuming it was am attempt at trolling.

It was, indeed, an attempt at trolling. Very good.

That's not too bad, for me. I usually do much worse at trolling.
