I hope that anyone who takes the time to read this article will have a better understanding of why I don't think it's cool to make fun of autism. I think it's unfortunate that it takes a tragedy like this for the press to show a story of what it's like on the severe end of the spectrum.

Working with kids I see them use autism as an insult all the time. It's really sad and they get punished for it all the time but they don't care. Homophobic slurs and the word retard are thrown around without a care too.

My friend brought it up to me a week or two ago at a poker game, although this is all I found when I looked into it. The prices for precious metals, silver and gold, have dropped hefty amounts over the past month or two, and if this is the cause then it is a great time to buy. They short metals then don't have for USD, drive the prices down, buy as much of the physical product they can, and when their bubble bursts they just have to pay a few fines while the prices skyrocket. He also mentioned that when this happens there will be a split in the market, one price for having the metal 'on paper' and one for having the physical metal. Also, he told me thus happened before in US history and they made a law regulating how much you can sell your gold for which I haven't looked into. Thoughts? if you look at the charts for silver and gold they both start to dip around the same time and are continuing to drop. I'd say the time to invest some money is now

I would definitely suggest getting physical metals. I have a sinking suspicion paper money (US dollar papery money, at any rate) is going to be worthless in the fairly near future.

The reason we use metal money is that we don't have to have money sacks to carry pounds of gold.

What we can do is go back to the old gold system in which our money is tied to the gold the nation owns at Fort Knox.

1) This assumes we still have gold in Fort Knox. I don't want to be a conspiracy theorist, but it's rather interesting that every attempt by anyone to confirm we have gold there has been denied by the government.
2) There isn't enough gold owned by the US (or quite possibly on the planet) to pay off the national debt, much less make the US dollar worth anything.

that was my first thought, there wouldn't be enough weight of gold at its current price to cover the amount of dollars out there. I for one am happy the prices are dipping. Just means I can buy good money for less bad money. I've been putting all my excess fiat into btc as of late, because I'm expecting it to go over 1000 USD soon. But if I wasn't I'd be dumping it all into silver and gold

I was just reviewing some older threads, looking for a place to make a post about the situation unfolding surrounding the shooting of Micheal Brown, then realized how big this thing is getting; I didn't want to make a new thread about it because there is so much to this issue that I couldn't think of a suitable title, so here we are.

IN case you are not aware, black teen Micheal Brown was shot and killed by a white cop Darren Wilson in Ferguson, St. Louis a few months ago.
Protests began, and amid them was a second incident where other cops pointed rifles fitted with laser pointers at an unarmed crowd, instead of keeping the weapon on the 'low ready', meaning having the muzzle pointed at the ground.
Needless to say, this agitated the situation further.

When is the mainstream media going to stop reporting like there are ONLY 'black' or 'white' people living in the U.S.?
I see this as perpetuation of an already out - of - date mode of thinking, and in turn it also seems to perpetuate this 'tension' between those two groups they're talking about, merely by stating it so.
Yes I am saying I believe the media may be indirectly responsible for keeping that whole 'black/white' conflict at the forefront, and I know I can't be the only one who sees it.

Based off what was released to us from the testimony, I don't think there was a way to bring him up on charges. Too many conflicting reports from eye witnesses, some of who later admitted to out right lying and just repeating things they had heard happened.

The looting and rioting was not by protestors, it was by people who wanted to do no good and saw an opportunity to act like criminals with little chance of getting caught.

The media has and always will push this black/white agenda. The main sticking point they always go to is "the town is mostly African-American but they only have 3 African American officers." Ok, but do they ever ask why? How many African American people apply? How many pass the qualifications? The police chief says the numbers are low because not enough African Americans apply and/or meet the qualifications. No one addresses that part. I want to see the numbers on that issue. Maybe the police force is purposefully not hiring them, we don't know without the numbers.
