Lava buckets work just fine. O-o No one else has any issues using them. V uses em all the time.

Man that is lazy. It's almost as lazy as JG starting forest fires to find his way home after exploring.

I think I did that {fires} once way back in Beta, when I was still very new to the game.
I remember making my house with glass walls so I could keep watch for mobs, that sort of thing.

Took a couple shots today. First was right by spawn. I went the other way, nope mr alien creeper. The second is my accidental workbench golem. I tried to put a skull above for decoration and I made a new life.

I stormed a huge Pirate ship but the game got laggy, followed by me getting kicked off the server.
I was able to reconnect but this happened again several times during the course of the battle.

Then it got a bit worse, and the effect was like falling through the world to void, darkness and particles all around, strangely the mobs I'd just been fighting seemed to come along and were hovering in front of me .. like I said it was strange.

I tried to reconnect and secured the cabin I was in by putting a door on the entrance.
The Pirate Captain was too much to handle by myself with 500 hit points; maybe I'll go on now and see if anyone would like to join me in killing him and grabbing his booty, if you know what I mean.

Well, I got some pics, it might be a place worth settling. It's in the
Tundra so it'll be a nice change of scenery. It needs cleaning up though as
mobs have damaged some of it.

Also Joe, sorry I couldn't rejoin the server after I left, it wouldn't let me.

No worries SJB, in order to be able to enjoy all these great mods we had to downgrade to 1.5.2, which in turn gives us all the server - related problems which have since been fixed.
I don't mind it so much and the mods make it worth putting up with a bit of lag here and there.

I get kicked off the server regularly and find closing minecraft entirely, then restarting from the launcher is the only way to reconnect.
Sometimes I have to reboot the launcher too, just so you know.

Blaze came to help me defeat the Pirate Captain with his 500 hit points, and we got more than we bargained for.

Not only was this guy able to spawn minions like Fire Skeletons, he also had some Doppleganger magic where he split into 2, then later 3 different versions of himself.
Blaze and I were dancing around trying to hit him and ended up hitting each other a few times instead.


After a while, the Pirate Captain seemed to disappear, but he'd only teleported below deck, so we chased him down there.
Long battle short, Blaze died and came back, then I died, and during the time I was coming back Blaze had killed the boss.

I have taken over the ship as my home for now and am exploring the surrounding area.

While looking toward the upper decks, I see this guy coming down the stairs toward me:

I was getting these screenshots when from my right, something came from around the bow along the water on ice patches it was making .. lucky for me it was only Blaze!

All good. I've had a custom Superflat Hardcore going during all the issues. Gotten really to a fun point.

Started out:

Top 10 layers of dirt/grass in a taiga biome with trees
Next 30 layers are water
Next 1 layer is sandstone
Next 5 are Sand
Next 25 are stone with the ability to generate the usual finds although not common since it's a high layer
next 25 layers are air. In other words, deadly as crap super cave
Next 75 layers are stone with the ability to generate dungeons, stongholds, caves, finds, etc.

Really fun. Confines you to wood tools until you safely make a way to go through the water layers. Likewise with stone tools until you find a way to safely get through that supercave. Just got to that point in fact. Was murder. Drilled a hole from the water layer down to the air layers for a safe descent. Had to then swim the waterfall and try to make a ladder down. I then realized it would be easier to drop sand to make the drop safer. Did a bit of A & a bit of B in the end. Was so scary trying to safely make a base on my way down. Had at least 20 zombies, 8 spiders and 10 creepers trying to murder me. Safely constructed a house with a ridge preventing spiders, then extended the cave base by dropping sand for walls. That's as far as I've got. Taken chunks of days in the last few weeks.

Nevermind the error message, just click on Dravo, then Direct Connect and you're fine.

then Direct Connect, then Join Server.
