@Cam- We need new blood because the RU crew is inconsistently online and regularly burned out. I wanna keep the server going as long as possible.

Nvm it was too laggy to play around hostile mobs. Even trying to type to Chrisp took like a full minute for it to register, by then he had left.

When I was dealing with the lag and a single zombie I couldn't fight I ran into JGs house. It seemed like the zombie got in the door and hit me, I fell down a ladder. I logged out in disgust. I decided to give it another shot and the door was fine, the zombie was outside of it but everything in my inventory was gone as if I died in lava.

I briefly looked up lag in hexxit and some people were saying that the mini map can be a big source of lag. If that's true is there a way to disable it?

I've experienced the bad lag myself, but assumed it was the usual server save lag we're all familiar with.
Sorry you lost your stuff, if you still want to play I will help you get started again.

About the lag, it seems intermittent but difficult to detect; hostile mobs appear to be standing still in front of you then you're suddenly hit several times at once as the game catches up to itself.

I think you're on the right track in thinking it's mod - overload causing it, but I find it interesting to note that Hexxit runs fine even on my comp in Singleplayer.

The minimap that pops up when you press 'm' has an options menu where you can decrease the resolution and a few other things but no way to turn it 'off' I can see yet.
Other settings that can increase performance are setting V - sync to off, decreasing particles and smooth lighting to minimum, fast graphics, and decreasing render distance.

I'm going to be on and off tonight experimenting, but am on ATM if anyone cares to join me.

I'm convinced that the lag is server - related and more to the point having largely to do with the fact we are playing with an older build of MC here.
Those bugs have since been worked out for the most part now but that won't help us much if we want to play Hexxit.

So, do we still want to play Hexxit?
As I said I understand how the lag can get you killed, and DB losing all his stuff is a situation I'm familiar with myself which is no fun at all.

But on the other hand I for one have been having a ball collecting all sorts of different materials and ores I've never seen before, while battling terrible creatures like this guy, who I fought for a while and just when I thought I was winning he teleported onto the roof of my funky little shack and he's like:

'ALL OF YOUR SHACK ARE BELONG TO US'

But I fixed him, I ran into my basement and logged out.

About my shack: I have some basic supplies in a chest in the basement, crafting table, furnaces, and an anvil in case anyone needs to hide out in there.
Planted wheat nearby, please replace what you take.

There are two portals in my funky little shack; one to The Nether right where you come in, the other to Twilight Forest is on my roof.
Better make sure you have at least some iron armor before sticking your nose in the door for a peek.

Also I took down that eyesore of a NERD POLE someone left going up to the floating island near my shack.

I don't care about the stuff I lost jg it's the fact that I lost it all and it looked like the zombie never got in the door. I had my back to the opposite wall by the ladder and I heard the zombie hit me when it got laggy and I left. Now that I think about it more I didn't die because I logged back in at the bottom of that ladder. So my stuff just disappeared because a zombie hit me through your front door. It doesn't make any sense.

That was my dirt pole but that was also the lags fault. I went up there to check it out and I killed all but one of the slimes that spawned. When I respawned that door ignoring zombie lag chased me to your house. I didn't get a chance to clean up my mess. Since then the server just doesn't show up when I check it, anyone else?

If it wasn't for the lag I'd be loving it though. Are all those giant stone structures randomly spawned?

I'm sorry I forgot to mention the server mods we're used to where you keep inventory after dying, /back, /home, none of those are working right now.
That explains why you lost your stuff DB, and as I said it took me 4 deaths to get properly set up with iron armor myself.
For some reason this info didn't click until just now.

This also means any getting together will have to be done using the map I mentioned, accessed by pressing 'm', which shows players in the area.
Alternatively use F3 and follow coordinates.

Yes the structures are naturally spawned, mod created content and in fact my shack was a crumbling skeleton dungeon when I found it.
I hoofed 'em out and took it over.

Ten, eat fresh?
Is this going to be part of that mod pack you mentioned?
Will it be a Tekkit pack?
Have I asked enough questions?

I had almost no lag playing on Hexxit before by myself. Played for about an hour and had some block lag for a few minutes but that was it.

It plays perfectly for me in SSP.

Well, I started making a hut for protection in the Twilight Forest and nearly got killed by a 'rare' pack of mosquitos.
Haven't done anything in the Nether but take care if you go in as one side of the spawn area is wide open to Ghast attack.

Crispy would you say the lag is a game - ender?
It's pretty bad for me and I have to really be careful with mobs but have learned to adapt.
Also the kickass armor the mobs dropped is helping a lot too.

Mykeh and Branflakes are very busy, by the way, and so we're probably still playing Hexxit for the next while is my guess.

DB are you sure you can't downgrade your video settings a bit to compensate?
Check your wireless network for parasites too.

Alright guys I modified the hexxit pack, removed the lagging minimap, and added optifine. Here's the link to the server mod pack: DravoCraft - Technic Platform

I get about 250-300 FPS with my modified version. With stock/default hexxit pack I get 21-30.
