Based on the movie, you take control of the Ghostbusters team, drive around town, and bust ghosts with extreme prejudice. Catching a ghost involes souping up the ghostmobile, driving around the city chasing ghosts, dodging ghosts in a close-up car chase view, and finally a two-player showdown with the ghost outside of a building.
Resource management is present: You have limited cash to buy resources with, including ghost traps, and modifications for your car.
The final showdown, of course, includes classic characters such as the Stay Puft marshmallow man.

Ghosts, Ghosts. And more ghosts. They've decided to come out in full force. And they've picked your city to show their stuff in. So who you gonna call?
Starting your own Ghostbusters business is tough. It takes a lot of work. A lot of equipment. And lots of hard work. But someone's gotta do it.
Besides, look at the rewards.
You get to drive some of the world's hottest cars. And play with the latest high-tech equipment. Like Super Ion Beams, Laser Confinement Systems and Image Intensifiers.
You get to get closer than anyone's ever been to the ominous Marshmallow Man.
And best of all, if you're lucky, you'll meet face to face with the ghost leader of the universe, Gorza.
So if you're tired of your regular old job, why not sign on as a Ghostbuster? And find out what a real job is!
Find the ghost, bust the ghost, bag the ghost. Repeat till end. It all gets boring very quickly, even if busting the ghosts does require some talent.

Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters! Another Commodore 64 gaming classic is overhauled and re-released for the Sega Genesis. Chase ghosts, monsters, and other ectoplasmic horrors around the various buildings of New York, but watch out for the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man! Based on the 1984 hit feature film starring Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, Harold Ramis, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts.
The boys who chase ectoplasm have gotten the superdeformed treatment. The graphics aren't great, but the gameplay is decent enough.

Based on the movie of the same name, something strange is going on in New York City and the Ghostbusters are back and armed with "benevolent slime" to find out what it is. The ghostbusters quest, like in the movie, takes them to an underground river of slime, ghostly hauntings in the courthouse, an abandoned subway line. These action sequences are interspersed with driving sequences with the Ghostbusters car, Ecto-1A Finally, the Ghostbusters must bring the Statue of Liberty to life through the New York Harbor and then navigate it through the city streets. This leads to a final confrontation with a painting come-to-life, Virgo the Carpathian in which all 4 ghostbuster user must fight their way into the museum.
In the action sequences you control a single ghostbuster who can fire his slime weapon and jump. In driving sequences you move the Ecto-1A around the screen and your controls are also a slime gun and jumping. Additionally you must find speed arrows on the ground to jump over huge chasms. Finally, while controlling the Statue of Liberty you may fire her torch straight up into the air (find a power-up torch to shoot diagonally) or let loose the tablet that she carries to destroy all enemies on the screen.
Find 20 "Ghostbusters 2" symbols in any of these levels to obtain an extra life.

In the game, the player is presented with four Ghostbusters to choose from: Peter, Ray, Egon, or Winston. The NES version features their accountant, Louis, as a fifth playable character. While the action can be performed by oneself in the NES version, a secondary player may join the game with the ability to press B on a second controller to release a ghost-catching trap. The objective of the game is to trap all the ghosts in an area until an arrow appears which alerts the player where to travel to next. A boss appears at the end of each stage.
