Messerschmidts darken the skies in front of you. JU-88 bombers move steadily towards their targets. At last, you've reached your objective - a fleet of U-boats with bad intentions. You dive in to make a bombing run, but you overshoot! Turn around to try again, and the enemy fighters are all over you! Fire, dodge, climb, and fire again! Your left engine is in flames, your fuel supply dwindling... can you weather the storm?
Simple flight sim. In-game graphics are pretty dreadful.

Ace of Aces puts you in the cockpit of the Mosquito, the maverick RAF fighter bomber of World War II. It's white-knuckle aerial combat simulation, combining the exhilaration of flight with the gut-wrenching pressure of enemy confrontation. During World War II, Mosquitos downed 659 enemy aircraft and 500 V-1 Buzz Bombs. Your only allies are your wits, your weapons, and your radar. Are you equal to the challenge? Down the Nazi bombers, sink the U-boats, outrun the V-1 Buzz Bombs and stop the enemy trains to release the POWs. Should you fly through a storm or around? Navigate carefully, consult your intelligence reports and maps to make a decision. Choose your weapons and fuel wisely--once you're on a mission there's no going back. Select one mission or any combination. If you complete all four successfully--and make it back alive--you'll become the most distinguished flight veteran of World War II--the Ace of Aces!

Essentially a scaled-down Mario Paint with a Looney Tunes theme, ACME Animation Factory is deceptively named, as players are allowed to color one of 18 short, pre-drawn character animation loops and superimpose them on backgrounds. An unintuitive interface makes this more of an ordeal than it should be. Players can also compose their own music using simulated instruments or play a version of solitaire. The character license is the only real appeal to this otherwise lackluster title.

Story: In the year 2100, the Earth's environment is devastated by its inhabitants, who develop their space technology to live on Mars. Before they left, the humans created a Bio-Computer assigned to replenish Earth's ecosystem in hopes of returning to Earth. 50 years after terra-forming parts of Mars, the human colonists were attacked by mysterious, but hostile UFOs. The military leaders among the colonists set up an attack force to defend the colonists using state of the art fighter ships useridentified as the Icarus. The main operation of attack is called "Acrobat Mission" because it exceeds the technical flying ability of the pilots.
Gameplay: Players started the game equipped with the default weapon, the Standard Shot: a semi-automatic laser weapon. Though moderately powerful, the Standard Shot cannot be upgraded or charged. Once the player has lost a significant number of lives and their selected weapon his lost its upgrades, the Standard Shot will once again take over.

Acrobatic Dog-Fight or "Dog-Fight - Batten O'Hara no Sucharaka Kuuchuu-sen" in Japan is a side-scrolling shooter arcade game released by Technos in 1984, featuring "cute" cartoon graphics and gameplay similar to the 8-way scrolling of Time Pilot but differs from the Time Pilot in many respects. In Acrobatic Dog-Fight the playing field was limited with a ceiling and ground as well as an ultimate destination to navigate to. Acrobatic Dog-Fight also added two buttons, a secondary weapon and an eject button. Eject could be used at any time and made it possible to hijack enemy planes and continue flying them. If the pilot failed to hijack an enemy plane he would parachute to the ground where a standard plane waited nearby.

Action Fighter is an overhead vehicular combat game released by Sega in 1986.
It mimics the style of other games such as Spy Hunter and Traverse USA. The player begins the game riding a superbike. In subsequent levels a sports car, jetski, helicopter and Formula One racing car can all be driven, as seen in the game's title screen. All of the vehicles are fully armed to deal with enemy vehicles and gun emplacements intent on stopping the player's progress. The helicopter levels play as a vertically scrolling shoot 'em up and resembles Xevious.

Take the motorcycle from Hang On, equip it with hi-tech weaponry and give it the ability to transform itself into an aircraft or car - and you've got ACTION FIGHTER!
Dodging, shooting or bumping into the vehicles soon gets very repetitive, even with a few surprise elements. Not enough overall content.

Action Man: Search for Base X is an action video game developed by Natsume and published by THQ.
The game's plot centers around the protagonist Alex "Action" Mann, and his mission to stop the evil Dr. X from releasing a weapon of mass destruction. Action Man must find Dr. X's base by playing through levels in various locales. The player is given a variety of suits for Action Man to wear in different situations, including a parka, a wet suit, and a space suit. Each level can be completed multiple times in order to achieve different goals; the correct suit is not required on the first completion of a level, but later attempts require specific suits to bypass obstacles. By wearing different suits, alternate paths in levels can be discovered.
The gameplay is similar to other 16-bit era action video games. The game contains fifteen missions for the player to complete spread through six main areas. The player is allowed to choose two weapons to bring into battle with them, such as a crossbow and a pistol. The game allows the player to jump, run, swim, and climb through various areas of the game, allowing for a more varied experience.

Expanding upon the action sequences of the original while shedding the simulation portion, ActRaiser 2 places you in control of a winged warrior who can glide, dive, swing his sword in any direction, and summon a variety of powerful magical attacks. Magic is now situation-specific and limited to certain actions, such as summoning the fire of a Phoenix to reinforce a diving attack. Graphics have been overhauled, with lush, detailed environments ranging from the depths of an anthill to a swampy forest, while the epic, orchestrated music has remained intact. Unfortunately, the clumsy control boosts the already high difficulty to insane proportions.

ActRaiser combines side-scrolling action with world-building strategy set within a fantasy realm. As a deity called The Master, your task is to overthrow evil forces by reclaiming your land and amassing a population of followers. Action sequences allow you to possess a warrior statue, using its sword and magical attacks to destroy evil in six lands, while the simulation mode consists of clearing out deserts or swamps, constructing cities, and keeping their populations safe. While neither mode is the height of its respective genre, the unique combination and a beautifully orchestrated soundtrack result in an engrossing and enjoyable adventure.
