A single player, side-scrolling platform shoot-em-up based on the 1987 movie of the same name. The game's story mirrors that of the film, with former cop Murphy, now a half-human cyborg called 'RoboCop', on a quest to bring down the evil OCP corporation.
RoboCop features nine levels of action, with two of the game's nine stages being into-the-screen target ranges, in which players can try to accrue bonus points and earn extra health. Wooden crates occasionally bar RoboCop's progress, but these can be punched to remove them. Marked crates can be smashed to reveal one of three Weapon power-ups; Three-way Gun, Dual Laser and the incredibly powerful Cobra Gun.
The film's incidental music plays throughout the game and RoboCop's speech is sampled directly from the original film.

Rocko's Modern Life: Spunky's Dangerous Day is played as a two-dimensional side-scrolling platform game, and the player controls Rocko. There are four sets of stages in which Rocko's dog Spunky has wandered off in search of an object that catches his attention: Sand in Your Navel (set at the beach), Trash-O-Madness (set at the dump), Ice Scream (set in O-Town itself), and Unbalanced Load (set in the laundromat), and each individual stage consists of four different levels. Except for Ice Scream all of the levels were based on episodes of the show. Rocko's goal in every level is to keep Spunky safe from danger. This means activating platforms and switches at specific times, as well as feeding Spunky certain items and defeating enemies in the way.

A straight sequel to the superb 1986 original, Rolling Thunder 2 sees one or two players taking control of secret agents in this scrolling, platform shoot-em-up. The agents once again find themselves up against the sinister GERDRA organisation and its many armed agents. Gameplay is very similar to the original, with doors both releasing enemies and hiding weapons and ammunition for the players to collect.
Rolling Thunder 2 improves on its illustrious predecessor in a number of ways; the most obvious one being the vastly improved and incredibly colourful graphics. The most striking improvement, however, is the addition of a simultaneous, co-operative two player mode; which adds immeasurably to the game's appeal. For the sequel, the one player agent is a woman, with a second player taking the role of a male agent.

Similar in style to Capcom's Strider, Run Saber places you in the role of one of two energy sword-wielding Cyborgs --- Allen the Thunder Saber or Sheena the Ice Saber --- on a mission spanning five futuristic, mutant filled levels, ranging from Tong City to the Jod Valley. Levels feature multiple sub-bosses and a climactic battle versus an end boss, such as an undead princess or the evil, reprogrammed Flair Saber. Both Cyborgs wield a unique Saber and special attack, and can latch onto or scale any surface, perform somersaults, kicks, slides, dashes and more. Run Saber is graphically adequate, yet unimpressive for its era, and suffers from a deficiency in challenge, particularly with a second player.

Sadly, this isn't a good beat-'em-up. Everything is so slow and even the colorful non-flicker graphics can't enhance this poor try.

Depending on which title you use, and how you interpret it, this game is about a guy who a)rushes in before attacking b)attacks Russians (this was the mid-80s, when the US helped bin Laden do the same), or c)wears a rather goofy hat. One way or another, this arcade conversion arms you with a knife and sends you on a kamikaze mission against hordes of enemy fighters.
There are four distinct sections of gameplay, taking in a Missile Base, a Harbour, a Bridge, and an enemy Prison Camp. Extra weapons with limited ammunition can be collected along the way, which will make the task a lot easier. The level is divided into 3 horizontal levels, which can be moved between either by jumping or using ladders, and this gives a chance to avoid the more threatening mobs of enemy fighters

Sailor Moon R is a Beat-'Em-Up game.
Sailor Moon R, AKA Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon R, is the sequel to Sailor Moon and introduced a new playable character, Chibiusa. Unlike other Sailor Moon games, Sailor Moon R was developed and published by Bandai, instead of Angel. The sprites from the previous game were redesigned with more detail and more animation frames for this game and the later games. Like the Mega Drive version of the previous game, the bosses has their own theme music. By playing the game on hard mode, there is a minor change to the ending that involves Sailor Pluto.

The sequel to Genpei Toma Den, and is the first game in the series to be released outside Japan. If you think you're pretty good at platform games, I'd suggest giving Samurai Ghost a try. This impressive-looking side-scroller is a real showcase title for the Turbografx-16. With its elaborate backgrounds and huge characters, I thought I was playing a Neo Geo game!
The controls are mainly limited to jumping and sword thrusting, and they take a lot of getting used to. The enemies are colorful and detailed. Sadly, Samurai Ghost looks much better than it plays. The collision detection is fishy, the power-up system is more confusing than it is useful, and mandatory hits are the order of the day. Between stages you'll be greeted by a hideous witch who spews unintentionally hilarious lines such as "How a pity you are", and "Don't be inattention". Samurai Ghost has a weird style that's kind of freaky. Overall, it adds up to an interesting but unexceptional gaming experience.

Travel through time as you seek to free trapped souls from their, er, um, vases? Oh-kay....
Psygnosis tries their hand at an Oriental action game. It's not bad for a Western effort, and features their usual top-notch soundtrack and demented sense of humor. Can be incredibly tough though, and most players will probably get quickly frustrated an go play something else instead!

The gameplay is similar to other Beat 'em up games such as Final Fight or Double Dragon, where the player controls The Shadow through several levels fighting against several enemies. The player has two bars; one is the life bar and a bar that allows the player to perform special attacks (invisibility, gun play, speed running, a dome shield that knocks out everyone who hits it). It also contains a driving stage where The Shadow battles Mongols on motorbikes (Maritech Labs), and roughly follows the plot of the movie.
