How to reconfigure MAME input for Star Wars?

Have the arcade Star Wars up and running.
The ArcadeOX MAME defaults from Tab are this:

AD Stick X Analog = J1 X Axis
AD Stick X Analog= Joy 1 Left <----
AD Stick X Analog= Joy 1 Right <----
AD Stick Y Analog= J1 Y Axis
AD Stick Y Analog= Joy 1 Up <----
AD Stick Y Analog= Joy 1 Down <----

How do I change the settings to accept the following?
This would be to work with a real Star Wars Yoke with a USB interface (and does work great with normal MAME)
Everything I try switches it back to Joy 1 UDLR, which makes the game uncontrollable.

AD Stick X Analog = J1 X Axis
AD Stick X Analog= J1 X Axis -
AD Stick X Analog= J1 X Axis +
AD Stick Y Analog= J1 Y Axis
AD Stick Y Analog= J1 Y Axis -
AD Stick Y Analog= J1 Y Axis +

Re: How to reconfigure MAME input for Star Wars?

This isn't helping but I never have been able to figure out how to get my steering wheel to work correctly with analog settings. I can get the steering to work but the gas pedal is always backwards in that when you do nothing it's on and when you push on the pedal, it stops.

No one knows how to alter the settings from Joystick to real analog?
Would Kong know, or is that programmed by someone else?
thanks
