Late 90's Computer Construction Puzzle Game

Hello All!

I'm desperately trying to remember an old computer game I used to play. It would have been in the late 90's (specifically the end of 1996 and into 1997), though it may have been released several years earlier.

You play as a male, and if I recall correctly the character was quite skinny, and tall, with dark brown/black hair. I can’t remember his name. Per the colorful intro, you are a new worker at a construction facility, and are sabotaged by your co-workers, who I believe take all your tools (except one? your wrench??).

There are three co-workers shown both in the intro and cut scenes, popping into the screen from all sides, and there was one with a slow voice, and dumb demeanor, who appeared from the top left corner of the screen.

I’m foggier on the actual gameplay, but as I recall you are solving puzzles to find your tools and proceed through the stages of the game. Each screen is an individual, overhead, colorful stage where you must set off levers and buttons in the right order. When the combination fits you are able to make it to the exit for that screen, and proceed to a new room of the same nature. (much like the individual screen puzzle play of Lolo.) I think as you finish levels and reclaim your tools, that the new rooms and levels require additional types of puzzles and use of the newly aquired tools, to proceed further.

I would be eternally thankful for any help in determining the name – and hopefully therefore provide assistance where to find a copy or screenshots – of this game!

Re: Late 90's Computer Construction Puzzle Game

I still don't know what game this is but I'm glad to see you made the trip over from EVG. Hopefully someone will know this right away but if they don't all hope is not lost. I posted one of these and it took a few months but eventually someone knew it. Keep checking back and if you come up with anymore info post it here.

In the meantime feel free to join the forum discussion and play the fabulous games. Welcome to RU.

Re: Late 90's Computer Construction Puzzle Game

Sorry guys - but unfortunately no. Though, good new knowledge for me - I didn't realize Wikipedia included video games. (Not sure why or why not... I just never really considered it before!)

Thank you for taking a look and trying to help me on this - I know an answer is out there! With the help I've been inspired for some new avenues of research as well.

In contrast to The Incredible Machine, as I recall, my mystery game was set with a dark/black backdrop, and the play-field was on a square floor, viewed mostly from above, but on an angle to provide an overhead, slightly tilted view - to give an appearance of 3D. (So you saw a diamond perspective on the square area.) It was full of very bright colors - I think with a checkerboard, colored, tiled floor. To work your way to the exit you might have to go into the "Red room", to pull the Green lever, and open the door to the "Green room", and so on. (All said puzzle rooms are within the same screen / overhead view of the floor - until you make your way to the current exit and move onto a new area.)

It's odd how the intro and silly cut-scenes (described in my original post) stick out more to me than the actual game play... but I think that's a pretty good summary of what I can recall.

Thanks again!!
